I was unavailable release weekend &a way this weekend, but looking at my LGS area Discords I won't have the chance to Draft TMNT in Paper.
They're all already off the Set and doing other Drafts.
I guess I'll have to be Arena-only for this

I don't think Patreon killed things as much as capitalism being like "we can make a business out of that" and preying on supporters.
One of the highlights about Valve's International is the fact that it has a large prize pool. Millions of Dollars. People can contribute a % directly by buying the in-game microtransactions.
But it's still crowd funding used as a business model.
This is the old argument in Esports I remember about "for the love of the game" type stuff.
So hard because while it's rewarding to have athletes play & people watch - it dies out without support. You either crowd-fund or turn it into a business.

It's very poorly worded, but MaRo tries to point sales to an expanding audience.
The downside is a lot of the sales WotC sees are distributors - not Players. I'd love to see LGS numbers compared to WotC's product sold to distros (we won't, but if they have it I assume it's decent to blogatog about)
There are a massive amount of Events this weekend.
