Everyone should do this!
I looked this up, to see whether it deserved its "Deadly" name (below).
Apparently one way to tell FALSE morels is that they look like brains. I am seeing a lot of reasons not to want to take the risk.
(1) The accused declared, ordered, or otherwise indicated that there shall be no survivors or surrender accepted; (2) The accused thereby intended to threaten an adversary or to conduct hostilities such that there would be no survivors or surrender accepted; (3) It was foreseeable that circumstances would be such that a practicable and reasonable ability to accept surrender would exist; (4) The accused was in a position of effective command or control over the subordinate forces to which the declaration or order was directed; and (5) The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with hostilities.
β Former USG war crimes lawyer here.
Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:
Denial of quarterβeven the declaration of no quarterβis a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.
From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.
Regime see the fleet but doesn't collapse?
Collateral damage?
Running out of munitions?
Americans getting killed and injured?
Straits closed?
MAGA coalition fraying?
Oil Price rises?
Inflation?
Airstrikes hardening Iranian will?
Everything is astounding to this Administration.

Seems to be a contest now between 2nd Gulf and 2026 Iran as to which is the most incompetently conceived. In 2003 the main problem was neocon worldview that Iraqi compliance and celebration were inevitable. In 2026 every day seems to be a total surprise to America's leaders./1
You appear to be hinting at some kind of violent revolution. Is that correct?
It's a beautiful vivid painting. I hadn't heard of Dorothy Johnstone. I got a strong sense that the artist was very attracted to the subject. I have checked and indeed Johnstone was LGBTQ. Her other portraits also often celebrate the beauty of her pupils and of her coterie.
Thanks for sharing this.
Maybe City.
Do Canadians ever reflect on 1776 etc and say "Thank God we stayed out of that"? It does seem to be far more stable than its "exceptional" neighbor.
I must admit when I see "Meat Trio" I would hope for three delicious kinds of meat, and not a "sausage" and a "pepperoni" made out of whatever was left lying around in the factory's bins. The cheese is 100% cheese though!
I don't think this would sell well in Napoli.
You forgot to mention that Trump engaged in an hour long phone call with Putin to discuss the War, and that he neglected to inform Congress or the American public. Putin did that. And Putin was able to say that he voiced to Trump "a few ideas" to bring the conflict to an end.
That's not very coherent. "Leftists" want this but "white people" want that. What sense does that dichotomy make? None. And I have never even conceived of people saying "I wanna do race science".
And this "wahhhhh" thing? It's dated, childish and embarrassing.
A siege of course can end in many other ways. The defenders can sally out and win, it can be broken from outside, the attackers can give up and go home, or some agreement can be reached.
I think that what the Romans inflicted on Carthage would meet the definition of genocide. They destroyed the city, the land, wiped out the political entity (literally) permanently, killed much of the population and transported many into slavery. "Carthaginians" were no more. Textbook genocide.
I don't think the widely-accepted current definitions of "genocide" (as used eg by the UN) specify either that such a group need be subject to EXTERMINATION, nor that it need be directed at the ENTIRE group.
Even though Iran does not have Tomahawk missiles.
It seems extraordinary that we have this photograph of the plane that was involved in a collision and subsequently crashed - within a few hours. But the Department of Defense has not yet been able to confirm that it was the US and not Iran that bombed a girls school with a Tomahawk missile on Feb 28
I am so glad he failed.
Thanks for that.
The English is pretty jarring.
I'm with you.
He fell for the stories that the most obvious liar in the world told him. He endorsed the man responsible for Jan 6, he enjoyed (with Elon Musk) the buzz of having the power to choose who was going to be on the throne. Now it's all turned to ratshit and I don't hear "This is my fault".
Rogan is very influential. It's quite possible that - had he endorsed Kamala Harris and not Donald Trump - Kamala Harris would now be entering her second year as President, ICE would be concentrating on violent criminals, Minnesota would not have been a warzone, and there would be no Mid-East war.
Joe Rogan has broken with Trump. So have Dave Smith and Saagar Enjeti. Fine. That's a good thing.
But I want sackcloth and ashes. I want "I bear some of the blame for this. Everyone is saying that they warned me and they're right. I must be an idiot. I'm sorry".
Not "Trump's let us down".
Palantir CEO Alex Karp thinks that his AI technology will lessen the power of βhighly educated, often female voters, who vote mostly Democratβ while increasing the βpower of vocationally-trained, working class, often male voters.β

It's a very complex situation. I am struck by how little we know. We know that Epstein abused 14 year olds in Miami, and that he was using young women as currency with his club of sleazy rich people. There are allegations of much worse. But not yet the giant smoking gun. Maybe it's at Zorro.
On another topic, Nissan's sales in red states are plummeting.
There's a lot of this. It's disappointing.
They think the 25th Amendment is initiated once a lot of people get fed up with the President. And not by JD Vance and a majority of people like Bondi, RFK Jr, Bessent, Lutnick and Rubio, and then endorsed by large majorities in the GOP House and the GOP Senate.
The person you are arguing with appears to be talking about the situation prevailing after the US and Israel attacked Iran. You appear to be talking about Iran's likely actions before that attack.
This stuff always had an emetic effect on me.
Oh the humanity.
