A few observations on Sam Altman’s simpering explanation on Twitter:

He only says the system won’t ‘intentionally be used domestic surveillance of U.S. persons and nationals.’ Presumably this means surveilling everyone else is fine though, as is accidental surveillance of U.S. nationals.

More seriously, I would also like an answer to this question.

They can’t have distrusted it that much as they still used (and are probably still using) it for Iran.

I’m sure it does a very convincing ‘explain it like I’m 5’ for politicians who can’t handle three syllable words.
