Anti-Trans Democrats Blown Out In North Carolina Primary Election
Anti-trans Democrat Nasif Majeed lost to Veleria Levy, who ran on a pro-LGBTQ+ platform. Other conservative Democrats lost as well on primary day.
1. In yesterday's primary elections, anti-transgender Democrats found out the hard way why you don't throw transgender people under the bus.
Two anti-trans dems lost their primaries, including one that cast the deciding veto override vote, in blowouts.

God. Cheese. Burger.
An exercise in ecstatic American theology
When I first saw Applebee's advertisement for the O-M-Cheeseburger, I was terrified. I trembled. I cowered. Then I opened my heart to it. Here is what it revealed to me. johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/god-cheese...

Excerpt from a BBC article: ""We usually work, 10, 11 or 12 hours a day," says a 49-year-old woman from Jiangxi unwilling to give her name. "On Sundays we work around three hours less."
She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards.
They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it.
This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.
The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.
"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.
"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. Something simple like a t-shirt is one-two yuan [less than a dollar] per piece and I can make around a dozen in an hour.""
The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

We're also seeing cops using the exact same violent tactics against the anti-ICE protests that they used in 2020, and I distinctly remember reading something about how cops were supposed to stop techniques like kettling π€ͺ

Trump officials reverse guidance exempting farms, hotels from immigration raids
ICE agents have been told to continue conducting enforcement operations at agricultural businesses despite concerns about negative effects on the food industry.
A βshiftβ never happened. A chaotic raid at a worksite and a warrantless sweep in our communities have the same outcome. Bullshit rhetoric aside, theyβre hunting us down while weβre trying to feed you.
Whoβs actually in charge?

Gal Gadot has personally criticized people who have called for a ceasefire. She used her military service to promote an image of herself as a badass when really she's just been a mouthpiece for the IDF.
Her being an aerobics instructor makes her pride even weirder imo

as someone whoβs worked in the service industry, every job ive had at a small business has been more exploitative and abusive than the ones at corporate joints. trumps biggest base of support is from petty tyrant small business owners. if you want to consume ethically, support worker cooperatives

Yes, everyone is correct. They're not advocating for a "strict meritocracy." Affirmative action is over. They're now suing over the very presence of Black people and Latinos in elite education and white collar careers.
They're advocating for resegregation. Call it out every time.

after days of grifters and con men at CES we stumbled upon the booth for VLC. they were all dressed as wizards and told us, "we have nothing to sell, we just decided to show up". i told them I'd been using their software to pirate media for 15 years and they said "keep doing that"

A street is orange from flames and you can see the high winds in the palm trees. Sparks fly down the street
A fire truck is engulfed in parks and flames are seen on the hill. The entire photo is red and orange from the fire
A fireman with a hose runs across the front of a house in flames in the background
The inside of a house is a ball of flames. The only visible thing inside is a burning Christmas tree
These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer.
These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP.
