Big Tech bedient sich "im Giftschwank der europäischen Geistesgeschichte". Für mich, eine sehr erhellende Analyse über den Rechtsruck von Digital-Oligarchen von @chrixcoenen.bsky.social
“Water is coming.” As a child, Yaghi ran off with buckets and grew up in a refugee community in Jordan. He says that the hardships he endured there inspired him. Today, he is inventing a system that draws water from the air. What an admirable story!

Bleib mal bei Hegel, güey! Ein deutscher Kulturjournalist, der absolut keine Ahnung vom Thema hat, erklärt Hunderten Millionen Menschen aus den Americas, was nun politisch war beim Super Bowl – und was nicht. Koloniale Überheblichkeit in Reinform!
The Revolution Will Not Be Subtitled
Mexico is one of the countries where the most environmentalists are killed each year. Most of them are women. First-time Mexican director Pablo Pérez Lombardini therefore set out to raise awareness of their plight using the language of film.
Ghana’s incredible coffins: the true story the West got wrong. Hint, it has anti-colonial roots. Today, the largest collection of Ghanaian coffins is found not in Accra, but in Basel, Switzerland, at the Museum der Kulturen (Museum of Cultures).
This graph illustrates the ways in which governments worldwide have come to power. Between 1789 and 2008, there were 577 coups and 544 democratic elections. The bars are proportionate to the actual numbers.

Cooking with cariño! In Mexico City, chefs are delving into centuries-old culinary traditions and the cultivation of indigenous foods. I wrote about this evolution for the German magazine Essen & Trinken. » bit.ly/454q1FN

Solidarity with @hateaid.org, an organisation that selflessly fights against digital violence. They have now been banned from entering the US because, apparently, their work to combat violence or revenge porn is seen by the Trump administration as an "extraterrestrial censorship of Americans".

A common assumption is that throughout history, people have experienced the same basic range of emotions. A radical field of history now challenges this assumption. Intriguing!
The thing is: “remigration” is already happening. Far from the comments sections underneath pieces of writing like these, where people exchange anguished or angry words about the future of Germany and the country’s soul, people are already leaving. Foreigners out, cry the protesters, and in some sense they are getting their wish. Every few weeks, I go to check in on a friend or acquaintance and find that they are either in the process of packing their bags or they are gone, gone, gone. In general the white ones are staying in Europe and the non-white ones are putting an entire ocean between themselves and here. Germany’s problem isn’t the loud migrants like me. It’s the ones who right now are leaving silently, never to return.
Last week I checked in on a friend, someone who I thought would be one of the very last immigrants (who have any other options) to leave Germany, only to find that they and their family are already in the process of leaving. Their explicit reason: the rise of fascism. Very, very disturbing times.

Trump's policies trickle down. Sources told me that a $250,000 grant awarded by the U.S. Embassy for the renovation of the Alte Feste Museum, a national monument in the capital of #Namibia, has to be repaid by the Namibian government. Trump wants the money back.
