you don't need to prove your disability level to anyone, not even yourself, and you deserve to let yourself enjoy a better quality of life! i know sometimes these changes feel like a very heavy confirmation of just how much our life has been impacted, but they also help a lot π
totally get the impostor syndrome feeling π« it doesn't help that we're used to the pain so we start wondering if it's just us overreacting, when really most people never have to deal with this
god yeah same for me pre-covid. but i feel like i'm beginning to forget large parts of myself from before the diagnosis. i try to take it with equanimity but it's hard not to resent those changes :(
thank you kristin!! i appreciate it ππ
ohh that sounds hellish, tooth pain is the absolute worst! i hope it gets better for you soon
i just hope i have another period of smooth sailing over the summer so that i can actually go on the trip i planned with my friend group to the ren faire, i already had to give up on it on previous years due to my health
but i had almost started to hope that my meds were finally making a big difference and that was gonna be my baseline now. i suppose everything is cyclical! i usually get more fatigued in spring, though i've had a lot more migraines and dizziness than usual this year which is v disruptive
and like in retrospect i did have a really solid autumn and winter in regards to fatigue lvls and other issues! there were still illnesses and problems but tbh it was better than usual and i'm so grateful for that,
I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
thank you ππ yeah i can usually withstand things ok so long as i can nourish myslef, it's a lot harder when i can't!
sounds like we have some similar issues, i'm sorry to hear you're also going through this π«
i had a cycle of eye infections related to sinus issues last year, hoping this isn't the start of that again
that sounds so extremely fake i can't fathom it
i know a lot of other chronically ill people so my standards are calibrated to feel like this is fairly normal, but sometimes i vaguely remember what my life used to be like before all this and like. wow. some people don't have to deal with all this. sounds unbelievable
i have a gastro appt on monday to deal with the stomach stuff which is currently the most taxing issue, and then i'll see my rheumatologist on the 20th so everything else will have to wait or get good
current health nonsense:
- stomach pain & difficulty eating (helicobacter 2.0?? idk)
- fatigue lvl v high, sleepy all day
- joint pain
- skin on fingers spontaneously splitting open (bad for drawing)
- conjunctivitis (isn't that a bit much...)
and it's not even that bad a flare! yay chronic illness
people who do physical sports and stuff are always talking about how fun it is despite it being difficult and effortful. snowboarders are literally slamming into rocks and breaking their wrists and shit And being like man i love snowboarding. I think this is a good mentality for artists to have too
ppl who still commission their favourite artists even in this era where everyone is broke and genAI is being pushed on us at every opportunityβyou are appreciated more than words can express!!!

Book cover for Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. The cover depicts Carmilla leaning her head against Laura's while she embraces her, Laura doesn't shy away from Carmillas touch but seems shy to reciprocate. They're framed by a red pointed arch, a devil and an angel and some baroque ornaments.
A crop.
