like obviously in different ways but like yeah. I think both of them share this sort of positioning of having their hearts in the right direction but also being stubborn and dedicated to their own idea of the world (whether by a rigid code like Roger or impulse like Machu) and it’s interesting

there’s a possibility the ways in which both of them fuck up and fail could be warnings to them, even when both of them fuck up and fail in similar ways (taking a close relationship for granted/using them, even when u urself r afraid of being used, which I think both Nyaan and Dorothy can fall into)

Machu sees an adult who’s trying to find a way thru & around the variously rotten factions of the world but who also by trying to maintain a neutral ground ends up often compromised. but who also seems to learn from that over time and who isn’t actively handing her a gun & saying go girl do ideology

roger takes a look at this firebrand of a kid who’s raging at everything selfishly but who also clearly has a sense that there’s something deeply wrong with the world and its hierarchies and wants to protect her friends. and sees a past version of himself that he doesn’t even really remember being

like I could see this actually going interesting places. sorry for everyone following me for making you look at a gqux thread but listen I’m having an idea here. like they see some of their own flaws in each other but also sort of their potential pasts and futures?

there’s actually smth here wrt how both roger and machu are like surface level rebellious against the hegemonic dystopian systems of their world, but also both come from places of privilege that they’ve nominally rejected but still somewhat benefit from especially as compared to others around them
