That's the only thing I dislike about character modelling so far - There's always something that bothers me about the idea that something's off, and I'm falling into the perfectionism trap instead of calling it "Good enough"

I'm thinking of redefining my mouth for my model and retopoing the face because something feels off about the model. I can also then make the eyes convex instead of concave (something done with custom normals prevents shadows in the eyes). Rethinking my model and wondering how I can make it work.

Hey #blender3d #b3d and other 3D artists using Blender. Are the Mesh Analysis tools useful outside of 3D printing? If so, how would one use it for character modelling?

by the way, this is Mesh Analysis - Distortion. Red means distorts more, Blue means distorts less, and yellow means it's somewhere in the middle.

Bwah. Mesh analysis is looking wild for my character's head mesh. I hide this with unlit lighting but knowing this is the nightmare I have to deal with is making me consider retopologizing the model.

Blender has this strange paradoxical reputation as both impenetrable to learn and being the go to for noob 3d modellers. The fact that it's free but also incredibly complex is a blessing and a curse.

Honestly at this point it's a whole load of noise and I've seen the noise and it's too much to keep up with. If I ever to have an online existence, I'm going to have to learn how to filter all that noise out.

The whole counter to that I've found is that a lot of the time the incorrect opinion lacks nuance and people love to pick up the pitchforks as a guy reaction.

It's why when people assume certain artists use AI for art but end up being wrong, the instigators are nowhere to be found 90% of the time
