The goal is to leave every person better than you found them.
Well after a conversation there I looked up the 4 British Values and it seems that a large proportion of Westminster would fail a citizenship exam (notably any recent Home Secretary).

I do wish ordering a new thing wasn't such a prerequisite to finding the old thing I'd lost.
NEW: Labour embroiled in dirty tricks row on eve of Gorton and Denton by-election.
The party has put out a leaflet saying "Tactical Choice" say voters should back them to beat Reform.
Only, Tactical Choice don't appear to exist.

BREAKING: A push to name one of Chicagoβs snowplows βAbolish ICE,β clearly linking the humorous pun to efforts to oppose President Donald Trumpβs mass deportation effort, won the cityβs annual snowplow naming contest, officials announced. @wttw.bsky.social
To celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday, this was when the Art of Noise met the great comedian, actor, raconteur and performance artist Kenneth Williams, who once said he hated innuendo. If he saw it in a script, he whipped it out immediately.
Will that was a truly sinful lie in. Think I might have got myself a little run down ...
TIL the US constitution literally has an amendment intended to prevent what ICE are doing from happening.

The UK has announced plans to fast-track legislation requiring βage verification for VPN useβ. The correct term, however, is not age verification but identity verification. A law like this would require everyone to identify themselves in order to use a VPN. This would pose a risk to whistleblowers, violate human rights, and represent yet another step toward an authoritarian society.
Mullvad is a brilliant VPN provider and I'm glad they are calling this out. Prime Minister Keir Starmer's proposals to enforce identity verification on VPN providers is a nightmare for whistleblowers.

Marcus du Sautoy on stage in the Whitla Hall. The slide shows the cover of A Mathematician's Apology alongside the quote "A mathematician like a painter or poet is a maker of patterns. I am interested in mathematics only as a creative art".
Jim Al-Khalili on stage in the Whitla Hall. The screen shows the title slide of his presentation "Quantum 2.0 - From 'spooky' physics to technological revolution"
Alice Roberts on stage in the Whitla Hall. The slide shows a small stone engraved with a cross next to a measuring stick
Marcus du Sautoy, Jim Al-Khalili and Alice Roberts one after the other, each giving a fascinating talk (did you know Jackson Pollock's work is fractal in nature?). Extremely solid day at @niscifest.bsky.social all round π§

Going to nisciencefestival.com/event/the-sc... tonight. Wonder if they'll repeat everything several times for the benefit of those who keep zoning out.

I'm GenX. We grew up in an all-print world. We read really fast. So, my Millennial and GenZ peeps, I beg you for the love of Bananarama, please just send me the article and not the TikTok of the dude talking about the article. In Prince's funky name, amen.
And there was much rejoicing
Uncommon for an elected President to insist that his countryβs elections are rigged and stolen and a global laughingstock. But what do I know.
I have been so outrageously productive this weekend. Hopefully it carries on into the week and I don't just spend my time dead at the desk after the exertion ...
