This is one of my favourites and so influential. Title refers to one of the most common opening chess moves.

It was extremely ropey. You could hear guys in the crowd talking to each other!

Anyone remember these? Camden Market, day after the gig? I had loads but I’ve only kept these 3. Pogues ‘87, Pulp at Glasto and #Prince Black Album. Was at both gigs and also saw Prince tour Lovesexy which had some of B/A stuff on it. Wonderful.

I grew up with lager boys bouncing around to Thorn In My Side in the local night clubs but the more I listen to Eurythmics, the more I realise how wonderful they were. 1984 is a hauntingly beautiful album.

Blow me if @nb1972.bsky.social at the excellent King Bee records in Chorlton, Manchester hasn’t just sorted me with 2 #Eurythmics albums. Got 6 of the 8, plus the excellent 1984. And I’ve got some Eurovision treats for the #WeekendSingles crowd but you’l have to wait till tomorrow. Wonderful!

It’s a bit of a hobby/luxury but if I’ve got a fiver and there are no singles I want, I might buy ten for the sleeve. Sites will sell repros but I like the wear and tear of the originals. We all get old and look no less beautiful for it.

Do you ever buy a 7” for the sleeve rather than the disc? I’ve a load of Jackson’s and Barron Knights that came in the orange/black EPIC because I needed the sleeve for another disc. Wonderful!

David, I’ve not been to my hometown Paisley for 17 years. Hope you got out alright. Loving Jonathan - ‘Tell her it’s alright’, and Georgia Satellites who I first saw at Kentish Town, Town & Country 19/07/88 for £6.50. A date that is seared into my list of gigs I’ve been to. Wonderful!
