seconding number 2 with something I've been very candid about:
I wouldn't be able to do Jellybox if my wife didn't have a full time job (with insurance) to support us both and if I didn't pick up part time work
not every indie pursuit becomes a full paying job, and if it does its not overnight
That being said I AM tired and I can always be better at prioritizing time. The new month means I should at the very least do a new media write-up for my blog.
Ive been meaning to complete more art pieces but reframing my perspective is slowly helping. Especially since I know that I'm not lazing around. Most weekends I'm basically a remote teacher that's helping my brother learn reading and basic education, to be honest.
I need everyone whose response to yesterday's animation news was "Just go indie!" to understand two things.
1.) "Work For Hire" means the company owns what you've created. You have no rights to it unless explicitly stated in the contract.
2.) Going indie does not pay the bills.
It was always my favorite special as a kid and I never thought much of it as I aged out of HBO Family, but realizing it was gay positive definitely makes a lot of stuff about me make sense in retrospect!

Any time I see anyone cite FREE SPEECH as a selling point I get a feeling that there's a good chance it just means "slinging slurs in discord chats" and unsurprisingly I'm right.

It's still impossible to get Skullgirls muscle memory out of me so I'll likely be playing that as well.
I haven't played Kamen Rider Super Climax Heroes in a while but I'm going to have to see if anyone takes to it if I bring it to my local arcade on Saturday. AFAIK there isn't much of an irl scene, but I would love to be proven wrong.

i think people forget that art is a form of communication. like enjoying the process is absolutely a part of it, but ultimately art is created to communicate ideas and feelings to other people, so ofc people can feel let down/frustrated when their messages aren't heard or being received
