Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
Thatβll take 30 years
20+ years as a criminal lawyer and I finally spelled uncorroborated correctly on the first try :-)
Anything *the author* does not like is bad.
Things that the author *does* like are simple pleasures of life that he judges us for not appreciating.
Ever since that guy in your freshman dorm who tried to explain tax policy with "Imagine that three friends go out to dinner every week . . ." discourse with conversatives is a never-ending series of people "explaining" complex things with incorrect simplifying analogies.
How many Republicans are for it?
Who yells at you for saying that?
Great analogy
You're supposed to go out into the world and discover that it is simple and the people on the internet who learned about it from repeating each other are, in fact, all correct
Thatβs my point. Why do GOP pols get to be treated as an inexorable law of nature? They arenβt a plasma. They are people with agency.
And, critically, they are the only people who could stop [all of this] in its tracks tomorrow.
For sure. No collaborators. I just donβt get why no one on the left or right seems to think that GOP Congressfolk have any agency whatsoever. The free pass theyβve gotten β even by Trump haters β pisses me off.
[All of This] ends if and only if a small handful of Republicans in Congress decide to end it. That is all it will take. But it will take that. There is no end run around it.
Remember that when you are deciding who to yell at online today.
What happened? Seems to me like GOP primary voters would have been happy with the MAGA stranglehold he got on a purple state.
80s/90s TV was optimistic in a way that it didnβt even realize. So many stories ended with the big bad thing that [government or corporation] was doing being exposed. And that was it. That the exposure would be enough to stop them wasnβt even questioned.
Yup. There is a small but loud group of folks online who seem to hate nothing more than good news.
π― agree. Knock the nihilistic BS off. Get on board or get the f*ck outta the way.
One encouraging theme in last night's NC primaries is the simple fact that being pro-trans is now like being anti-ICE among Dem voters: to them, it means you're a fighter, it means you're not giving into Trump.
That's a really, really good sign.
βHis job was Mr. T. Thatβs the job.β
yeah the damage a single bad billionaire can do wildly outstrips any positive impact even a theoretically ideal billionaire can have
more, I think that the kind of person you need to be to become a billionaire tends to select for the worst outcomes in all but the rarest of cases
Bessent is a dark horse for ending up winning βdumbest member of the Trump administrationβ when it is all said and done. I realize that the competition is fierce, but heβs putting the tape out there. Donβt count him out.
Itβs going to be so annoying when [all this] ends and courts immediately go back to treating DOJ as an infallible litigant.
There should be *some* long-term reputational harm for letting itself get hijacked by complete morons.
One of my favorite moments (in retrospectβnot at the time) is when the kid did something particularly exasperating, and I wearily asked βWhy did you do that?β And he looked up w/ genuine confusionβbecause he also had no idea why heβd just done that.
Press gave Biden far worse coverage for a small number of American soldiers dying while leaving a war than to Trump for a similar number dying while starting a war for no reason. It makes you think!
I might be late to the party in realizing this, but the VP & cabinet have basically already soft 25th Amendmented the President.
We see him going to MAL parties constantly and think that is his choice. It is his advisors, pushing him away from the decision-making apparatus.
That can't happen until we win in the midterms. This congress isn't going to do it.
I think Trump should revise his statement. He should now indicate that he could shoot someone in broad daylight in the middle of fifth Avenue and 3/4 of Bluesky would still somehow find a way to blame it on the Democrats.
i think we need to make a social shift. instead of proving how cool you are by knifing someone on our team, what if you proved how cool you are by taking the fight to the enemy. crazy thought
This whole decade is all about conservatives getting basically everything they want and realizing that what they want sucks and everybody hates them
It's weirdly similar to Kash partying with the US men's hockey team.
Uncool and unlikable people who want nothing more than to be seen as cool and likable.
Frankly, I think rightwing concern trolls have determined that trans people are going to be the new Palestinians for the upcoming election ratfucking.
A marginalized group to use as a wedge to foster voter apathy among left leaning folks & peel off the votes of the gullible to elect more fascists.
