I think it's fine when it's limited to emotionally intelligent characters but there are many recent examples where an entire ensemble is in touch with their feelings to a point beyond belief. It can *prevent* drama if everyone can articulate their emotional state at any given moment.

Literally just watched Magnolia and could not agree more. The best performance in a movie of great performances.

I like those episodes a lot but also some of my faves are the ones where you know the premise immediately. Like for the Survivor/Bachelor episodes the joy is knowing exactly what these people are in for.

Yeah, breaks immersion in the story, breaks the pacing of the story, and makes the audience feel like they're being preached to. Really hard to not make something like that feel forced.
