I think it's important that people do respond. Yes, there are people at the top who will completely ignore anything that is said, but there are also people within the NHS and the Labour party who want to fight this. Those people need your responses to give them ammunition in their fight.

for, at least for companies that are hiring programmers. We're just not that cheap.

This isn't a conclusion that makes me happy. I'd rather AI got in the sea, tbh, but if you're a programmer and you're not starting to explore these tools I think you've got your head stuck in the sand. 6/6

... involved in making as well as the ways they've been created, but it's clear to me that the way that professional programmers are going to work in future has changed.

I suspect the prices will rise dramatically in the coming years, but even at *much* higher prices this will be worth paying... 5/

This isn't knowledge free programming, but it is performing real work on real projects in ways that are simply another level to what the technology was capable of last year.

I have my doubts about the viability and sustainability of parts of the AI ecosystem and the ethics of the companies... 4/

In both cases, it needed direction from me to solve the problem correctly which needed my knowledge and understanding of the codebase, and in the first case it needed to be told to fit some parts of its coding style into the way things are supposed to work in that project. 3/

...a million line C++ work project and got it to attempt a ticket I had last week. In both cases, it's first attempt didn't work and it needed some more direction but in both cases it was able to generate the code to solve the problem quickly. Quicker than I could do it. 2/

I've been trying out Claude Code today. I've looked at AI coding tools before and found them somewhere between useless and actively harmful but this is different. As a test I first got it do some refactoring on a PHP/JS hobby project I'd been meaning to get around to, and then pointed it at... 1/

I have long held that skeets was a bad choice when the obvious, fitting, and funny "bleats" was right there but seeing that origin story I have made my peace with it.

The COSMOS study of multivitamins and cocoa supplements continues to be a ridiculous circus that mostly shows how broken science is.

This time, it's DNA methylation.

Now be fair, it's "on X, Facebook, and LinkedIn". The three key skills for the modern minister.

Good job, Mercedes. And cracking from Hadjar to take 3rd, although hard to judge how quick that Red Bull really is with Max in the wall #F1

I think it's because with these regs they do a warmup lap? So rather than out-fast-in they do out-warmup-fast-in so they need time for an extra lap each time they set a time.

In Germany we had F1TV then they ended it to give Sky coverage when Mick joined the grid. More money for a worse product :(

About 3s down in both FP1 and FP2 compared to last year. A bit more of a gap than I expected.

Why do they have straight mode activation mode zones? Why not just let the teams/drivers decide when and how to use it?

Democracy Volunteers – Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust

Yes. They're also accredited by the Electoral Commission as election observers.

Democracy Volunteers aren't Reform rabble rousers though, they get most of their funding from the Rowntree Foundation.

I don't think they've covered themselves in glory here, and what they've said has been gleefully received by Reform but that doesn't mean they're stooges.

What a pile of wankers.

There are no-win no-fee debt collection agencies, specialising in collecting B2B invoices in Europe for overseas clients? I don't have any direct experience with any of them to say whether they live up to their claims but it's maybe worth a shot?
