May be theyve had to stick to the policy now that theyve stated it explicitly in the Khamenei bet closure. This is my best guess. Would love to hear other potential narratives.
My understanding from the podcast in the article is when they cancelled a bet on Khamenei is that theyre trying to avoid bets about people dying. Obviously a grey line but I could see a bet on a nuclear war as being on the "take down" side while betting on "country x gets a nuclear warhead" as not.
