It's that time of year where it is perfectly normal in this part of Germany to receive a letter from your child's primary school containing the sentence: "Munition ist nicht erlaubt" (ammunition is not allowed).
For this particularly occasion, confetti is also banned.
One of the mysteries of life is finding an upcoming game on Steam and there are 0 links to a website or any social media. Like, how are you planning on telling the world about your game? Fine, I discovered you on Steam, but I was looking pretty hard.

It's not just great for gameplay, it's great for marketing too, giving games an audio identity that is immediately identifiable in an era of 30s attention spans.
Which games do *you* think have great musical hooks?
A musical hook, while often only a few notes, can really make a game's soundtrack memorable. Two recent examples that come to mind are Baldur's Gate 3 and Europa Universalis 5. If you've played either, I bet you can sing the hook (altogether now: "Down, down, down by the river!).

I was concerned that I had plugged some cables in the wrong way when recording my piano this morning, and was annoyed that I'd have to swap the stereo on the whole thing. Ladies and Gentlemen, I've just say down and put my headphones on the correct way around.
My Cubase template was last updated in November '24. Clearly I'm spending time on more important things. It probably does need updating though.
Part 2 of my Orchestration Deep Dive is now available, lots of Dorico 6 tips and tricks as we do some Score Prep. In order to make this sometimes dry subject more exciting, I talk about exploding and have tried to cut the faffing down to a minimum.
