you really are in my prayers, I can see how much you want folks to do right and how much this means to you and i hope you find both a way to work on this issue that makes real change and peace with the fact that you gotta let some fights go

it's a lot harder to call people out if we are in community w them (especially in person, not online) because we care about them liking us but ultimately it is the only way. Jesus did not, alas, call us to do the easy thing that feels righteous (yelling at online people who don't feel real to us) π
have no idea who you are or what you're about or why they should listen to you
like if a random person on the street started yelling at you bout smth even if they were right you would be like "wtf" and probably dig in on whatever you were doing
Here you're bombing in and talking to folks who don't know you from Adam and I just do not think that is going to achieve what you want (them changing their minds) (I'm aware that you could level the same criticism at me, I hope you might give it a moment's consideration for respect foe the collar)
Absolutely! But you gotta have context. Jesus took those prophetic actions in contexts where he had a relationship with the people he was talking to. He had been around the temple for 20+ years at that point and was in relationship with the community there
My friend, if you see the ordination process as "vying for a spot," and if you think that yelling at people on social media whom you don't know will do anything but harden their resolve against you, you have a lot of learning to do. I will keep you in my prayers.
My friend, I think you very much need to step offline and take a prayer break. I appreciate how strongly you feel about MAiD and I personally agree that legalizing MAiD is a bad idea, but this kind of interaction is not the way.
if you really want to weep, try the Spanish language pocket version. Somehow they managed to screw up the layout such that it's palpably OFF
God has not given me many crosses to bear in life but one of them is very poetic-justice:
Whenever I wear my cassock and/or clergy cloak on the street (which happens more than you'd think), people yell HARRY POTTER at me
ππππππππππ
I need a really all black big boat n tote or something because it is really funny looking to be riding the subway in my cassock and cloak hauling a FreshDirect bag full of liturgical stuff π¬
(Yes, I was born with it; yes, I have affirmatively chosen to keep it at several junctions; and yet every time folks are reminded of it the Hogan's Heroes jokes start)
I am going to have to write an email that expresses a desire to be referred to as "Fr. Klink" (if other clergy are also referred to by last name)
pray for me and my extremely comical surname
this would have been 1998
x-files, alt.tv.x-files but I am not sure if it was on the newsgroup or archived at gossamer, 11
("should Flourish have been watching the x-files at age 11? should Flourish have been allowed to be on use net at 11?" IDK! it worked out fine!!)
SO REAL THOUGH. I got Baby Beluga for my kid after not hearing the album in at least 30 years and...HOO BOY
It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow
It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker
This was never about woman's sports
THE PEANUT BUTTER. WHY THE PEANUT BUTTER. I had a "PB&J Stout" the other day and...lord...I just do not know under what circumstances people want to drink this. As dessert, I guess?
Like most people, I'm drinking less these days, but actually that makes me want good cocktails MORE, not LESS, you know what I mean? If I am going to drink a drink, I want it to be worth drinking!
This is definitely also true, and many of the places that used to be doing interesting things are simply not around anymore. Mocktail quality is much better, but cocktail quality is in the toilet.
Ten years ago, it was perfectly easy to find these things in NYC, too. I don't know why everyone decided beer only needs to taste sour, bitter, or sweet, but...what if...it tasted like BEER...
m e. t o o o o o o
Right?? My kingdom for a reasonable porter - or a stout that isn't essentially dessert!
That's the way in which it relates to me. Who is sane in pursuit of freedom?
It's complicated! Sometimes, as in super bitter cold, the cost/benefit analysis that folks are doing is wrong - they are likely to die in the cold, and that's worse than the shelter IMO. But I don't get to make that call for them.
Yes, it's just like bras in this way. Also all underwear gets gross after years of use...
Yes, you can bind in other ways. But those ways are significantly damaging to your health!
I did this independently of @evanurquhart.bsky.social a few weeks ago. Everyone I know who binds and has the means is doing it. And here's the thing, if you don't know: binders are a medical necessity for transmasc folks who wish to avoid surgery
I did the same thing.
I have this argument all the time with folks about the rationality of unhoused people who choose to avoid shelters. like....you cannot reduce this to "they're crazy"
