I bookmarked it to read in full. Only saw the summary earlier. Sounds promising but lots can go amiss moving from pilot to rollout so the rollout eval will be telling.

Looking pretty amazing in TΔmaki too!
A vibrant sunset with the pink and orange-tinged clouds filling the whole expanse of sky
Damn, I thought my view was pretty special in the Tron.
Also @gmhales.bsky.social do you know if the QuEST rollout evaluation will be in house? If the potential from the pilot is realised that would be big news to disseminate globally as a way of hitting many 'good policing' notes at the same time.
Indeed, your threads always are. Thank you for pointing me to the S&S Charter report. I will include it in the write up of my evidence map (which, incidentally, will credit your Twitter threads in the acknowledgements section) libraryguides.waikato.ac.nz/evidence-map
So basically a wilful ignoring of the population at risk?
How is this still a thing??! Residential population was discredited over 2 decades ago as a reasonable benchmark. Every student working in this area swiftly learns that after reading classic texts. Why does the hubris of report-writers trump this well known fact?!

Everything is either a false dichotomy or just plain wrong.
The Criminal Justice team at Arnold Ventures is looking for a pending/recent PhD with strong causal inference skills, for a remote, part-time consulting position.
This is a great opportunity for someone considering a transition from academia to the policy space.

You're too kind π null/empty reviews were definitely A THING historically but funders don't like them so (IME) more care is taken at the scoping stage now so that a review will usually return findings of some sort. Some topics still v barren, others saturated. Quality an issue across the board.
Thank you for the interest! I put it on CrimRxiv as my uni didnt recognise a new journal as part of their open access arrangements: www.crimrxiv.com/pub/64c1s0fd...

Oh there's hot pools galore too. Someone in my neighbourhood 5 mins walk away has a small but impressive waterfall in their back garden, it sounds amazing after heavy rain π
Lovely. Did you ever make it to NZ ECCA? Can't swing a cat on the North Island without bumping into a waterfall!
British context; quick survey and on an important topic given councils periodically review lighting provision for cost reduction reasons. Have at it ;)
Can we really predict lethal family violence? π In this Te Puna Haumaru seminar, Assoc Prof Benjamin Spivak examines evidence from 40,000+ Victorian cases and questions the limits of lethality risk prediction. βΆοΈ Watch the recording youtu.be/LqngWYqfTsc?...

Thanks for recommending, just watched it with the kids and it was every bit as wonderful as I expected. The slugs' copulation dance was a particular gross highlight for them!
Happy birthday Matt! There's something quite galvanising about being in your mid-40s ;)

π§΅In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7
