Ran into an old friend at a restaurant tonight. I haven't seen her in probably ten years. Asked her how her son was doing, and she says he's 31. I've known this kid since he was around 13 yards old, so that's freaking crazypants to me.

spinach just to see what kind of shape it's in. It's DELICIOUS. So I made myself a little breakfast pastry with eggs, the overwintered spinach from the garden, and a pink oyster mushroom that I grew from a kit.
Also, my mushrooms seem to really respond to Henry Rollins' voice. Huh. 2/2
We've had maybe, what, 3ish snowfalls in Philly this year? Or at least three times that dumped at least a few inches each, some of which stuck around for weeks. Anyway, I noticed after the second storm that when the snow melted, my spinach had overwintered and survived. This morning I picked some 1/
He absolutely does. Let's hope Congress does its job well.
Here's what I'm thinking for our Autumn anniversary trip--fly into Helsinki, Finland, spend a few days, take the 2-hour ferry to Tallinn, Estonia, spend another couple of days, then fly home. Or vice versa...whatever's cheaper. Any recommendations for Helsinki or Tallinn?
Sounds kind of like an even trade--but really, what can we expect? Flunkies gonna flunkie.
I'm sure Markwayne Mullin's vast expertise in plumbing and home improvement will be super useful in his new gig as homeland security secretary.
If you like more of a whisky smoke kind of thing, seek out a sample of Nassomatto's Baraonda. I quite like it but have to be SUPER choosy about where to wear it--it smells boozy, so I can't wear it to work, lest someone think I've been day drinking.
The only ones I've tried are more... gunpowdery?
I do love BeauFort. I didn't know they had more of a gourmand in the collection!
I might have to give this a go.
Small spray vial of Insalada Mista by Hilde Soliani. Scent notes: Basil, Herbal Notes, Parsley, Celery, Vegetal Notes.
I can't quite put my finger on what it is about the #sotd (details in alt text) that isn't for me. I like the fresh greenness of the scent, but it might be the celery. It's slightly acrid on me. I doπHilde Soliani, though.

The male loneliness epidemic and why marriage isn't attractive anymore to women, summed up in a single headline...

Yup. You'd love it!
"well shut me down and sell my lands," says NPS.
I was there last year! I took a solo side trip on one of the days we were in Prague. It's gorgeous!
Also, I cannot believe this will be my fifth art biennale... all because of Craig's amazing flight benefits, a random article I ran into about the biennale, and a free weekend on my calendar. Truly, I feel very lucky.
Eeeeeee, only about 2 months until the opening! I am particularly excited about the introduction of the "oases"--& the central pavilion is inspired by One Hundred Years of Solitude/Gabriel GarcΓa MΓ‘rquez and Beloved/Toni Morrison... & prioritizing sensory experience!

This was so much fun! Happy Women In Horror Month to us all!!!
Valid.
Seriously. They are all evil and no nuance.
Small sample vial of A Little Secret (Imaginary Authors) in my hand. Scent notes: ranier cherry, marzipan, patchouli, saffron, demerara sugar, rum soaked tonka and pastry crust.
Gourmands can go really great or really bad, and the #sotd (details in alt text) is not great because, on me, it smells exactly like cherry cough syrup. This might be a scrubber: I'm sitting here with a moue of disgust on my face. #perfumesky
Everything about this administration is terrifying. I miss expertise.
Oh my god, yes. A tomato right off your own vine just can't compare.
Possibly. There's definitely a different satisfaction in it that feels less stressful than the rigamarole of the (fiction) publishing world. I always find myself comparing the two because it's how I spend my non-day gig time.
A) congratulations
B) I'm finding a lot of comfort in academic work right now, and I can't quite figure out WHY. It's unexpected.
I mean, it's predictable, right? This administration and its fans have such a fetish for death disguised as god-worship. It's just a different edition of Jim Jones.
Tomatoes for everyone!! My husband just started a few tomato seedlings last weekend.
It'll be nice to have my hands in the dirt, for sure.
It really is an oddball addition. The chocolate does fade in dry-down, yet the longevity in general is crazy for the green factors in the perfume.
