Hamnet, Wuthering Heights and The Bride are their own weird little genre. Shouty goth girl historical movies with lots of color and 2 with Jessie Buckley. I wasn't 100% on any of them but I hope we see more and better iterations of this genre

New Buying Power is out! I wrote about Anthropic's feud with the Pentagon, the OpenAI backlash, and the near-ecstatic reaction to seeing anyone with any power or influence in American life publicly break with the Trump admin. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Here we go again, America. We have to give a President another blank check and give him as much as he wants to shoot unlimited $20 million interceptors at $20,000 drones and if we donβt we are unpatriotic so pay up.
My new PBM is forcing me me to do mail order by charging outrageous copays at a pharmacy. I weirdly enjoy my mom and pop pharmacy in the Bronx, they do my flu & covid shots, the pharmacist speaks 4 languages. Iβm pissed that my PBM is charging me 2x to get me to give up a regular human interaction!
In case you missed it, book bans are going national

This was fun to read first thing. So much of my teenage and young adult years spent having landline conversations that went βWhat are you doing?β βI donβt know, what are you doing?β βNot much.β

Talked to Roger Sollenberger who was first to report on the DOJ covering up the transcripts of 3 FBI interviews with an underage Trump accuser in the Epstein Files.
Reporting since been confirmed by NPR/WSJ. Big story.

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow
It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker

Everyone in NYC is talking about property taxes!
Hardly anyone understands the system, but there's widespread agreement the outcomes are inequitable.
We've got a guide to help you make sense of it all, and learn why you should care, even if you don't own property.

This is a remarkably creative and fun jaunt through a thousand years of English, and a creepy story to boot. Iβm good through the 1400s. How about you? ποΈ
Some bullet points that I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could our journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.
I never said it was shoveled by the city. And as someone who lives in this building, it was not shoveled this quickly after the first storm. Who knows what happened but Mamdani did say he would issue summonses to landlords who did not clean their walks 4 feet across.
I don't know the answers to your questions and I don't know if a city shoveler hit my sidewalk. It might have been the building porter. Mamdani did talk about issuing summonses to buildings that didn't shovel it themselves, which they're legally required to do.
