The nuclear block is good, actually. Itβs why Bluesky is my favorite modern social site, much more so than even Twitter at its best.

Heartening to see that a clear majority of Americans opposes Trump's illegal war against Iran. We can hold two thoughts simultaneously: support for the troops he's put in harm's way and opposition to unprovoked military aggression. www.poynter.org/commentary/2...
Because Israel demands Trump to.
All signs point to a US attack on Iran in the coming days or hours. This is bad, very bad.

I work on an old historic citrus grove and we did this sign up on the property today. It must date back to the teens.
1 year ago today our tropicals were looking amazing, like this Brownea tree. π΄
An assortment of hot peppers
I managed a pretty nice haul today. Plants are looking good and the temps are about to go back down into the 30's again on Tuesday. πΆοΈ
Severely cold damaged Cacao bush.
Our tropicals have taken a real beating from the near freeze and extended cold, it took about 14 days for the damage to really become evident, but we have had major damage on some tropicals like this very mature Cacao and a fairly rare in Florida Ixora fragrans. π΄

This is why I try to only use Canadian peat, Coir, or Hydrafiber in my pots.
Any forest products or compost break down fast and turn to sludge.
I have been told they're Ghost level. I don't taste citrus on these but the flavor is lighter/brighter than the reds and browns.
Most of my plants took a beating with the cold but it looks like all of them will survive. Here's my gold GhostBird which didn't miss a step even after going through a night of 32Β°f unprotected. πΆοΈ
You're in. πΆοΈ
Hey I got a mention in the local paper article about protecting plants from the cold.

Hoping for the best.
Thanks, not much we can do. Wrapping a few orchids and watering everything. Loping for the best.
Well the weather is going to drop into the low 30s this weekend so I may be saying goodbye to a lot of our tropicals. It's going
Down to 32f. If it stays for six or more hours at that temperature I can kiss the majority of our tropical plants goodbye.
We haven't had it this cold since 2009. π΄

Hi Tropical Plant fans...
I've been absent for a while. Here's our Florida Champion Cuipo Tree (Cavanillesia platanifolia) just starting to bud out. π΄ π±

Pepper grinding
Ground peppers.
I finished dehydrating another batch of peppers last night and turned the kitchen into a toxic cloud of pepper dust grinding them up into powder. I was coughing and sneezing for hours... πΆοΈ π±

Don't know if I ever posted a followup, but yes, we have a new Champion Strangler Fig.
