Sometimes I post things on here and worry I've pissed off one more more of my mutuals. Maybe I'm thinking about myself too much, but I can't shake the feeling anyway 😞

You're right. And I do sometimes worry people skip this one because of the length, and the fact it's tagged with things like "fuck or die" 😩🤣 But I was still relatively new to posting fic consistently again this time last year and worried a lot about upsetting people with concepts they don't like.

Sigh... another tournament where Scotland were so near and yet so far 😩

I hope more people give this a read, because I love fics that play around with the idea that these two endure into the modern age and the note at the end of this was 😭

I remember the part of me that used to be obsessed with POTC really enjoyed this one!

(If it makes anyone feel better... the dead dove-adjacent tags really don't feature much beyond the first third-ish!)

I feel a bit bad promoting mine again because it got plenty of attention, but tbh it remains one of the fics I'm proudest of, and this is highlighted by the fact I was in editing it AGAIN just two nights ago 😂

(Maybe I'm sore about this overall because the Loki series had an issue in that the showrunners didn't seem interested in watching Loki's prior MCU appearances and it showed imo)

I wasn't even heavy into the sequel trilogy, but I would never get tired of slapping him for what he did.

Aww noo, I’m sorry! I’d feel so guilty not reacting to a gift fic. I was on holiday when I read one of my gifts last year and spent a bit of time in my hotel room writing out a comment. Even if I have to write a placeholder comment saying I’ll come back later, I’ll do that and come back later!

It’s always the fics we pour the most into that don’t seem to catch on and it DOES sting a bit 😩🫂

I’ve found writing a gift fic for someone helps a little, because then all you really care about is that the recipient likes it. The one I did for Christmas/New Year healed a tiny something in me.

Felt. I’ve barely been to the cinema to see some of the nominees this year. I only just managed to watch Sinners at home a few weeks ago 😩

Finding out that yet ANOTHER HP fanfic is getting a reskin and a huge book deal is making me feel… this is the bad place 😭

This site needs a break. Post 3 good things, none of which are the cessation of a negative.

1. Sitting on a hotel balcony at sunset in a warm country.
2. Browsing seemingly endless shelves in a bookshop.
3. A cup of tea brought to you in bed in the morning.

Then there’s the fact that even those of us who do like to read fic are seemingly struggling to keep up to the level we were even a year ago.

Don’t think it’s anything you, or I, or anyone is doing wrong. The ship tag is just never gonna have the level of reader activity it did in 2022-23 I think.

Also, when I went through this grief with my Halloween fic I just had to try accept some people don’t like non-canon setting AUs and perhaps the theme I’d chosen was niche. In canon setting fic I write a lot of angst and/or canon compliant stuff, some people just want fluff and happy endings.

I agree with Jess and Jam. I think “write for yourself” is nice but it’s also true that if we only did that, we wouldn’t share our fics! Kudos/comments are like our book sales and reviews I guess.

In our fandom the hiatus really isn’t helping. But there’s also like logic to what fics “go viral”…

Yeah, this is something Cat and I have grumbled about, especially re: word counts and people setting an arbitrary lower limit because they think getting more fic = more worth their time 🤦‍♀️

He’s about to learn the things he can’t control about his human body 😂
