bluesky handles auth for people. it's not a self custodial keypair

i support bluesky's mission but i disagree with their chosen path bc they are pushing the most critical stuff to "later" and that adds more uncertainties
yeah all which use private endpoints
it's just silly that Nostr ecosystem is already doing all the same things, is farther along, actually open protocol etc. and bluesky chose to go separate ways instead of making itself a moderation layer/ feed algo / verification system for Nostr network
unfortunetaly bluesky hasn't demonstrated any of these yet
i'm not losing my shit until i see these take off with an open network
i'm very unimpressed with bluesky owning all our private keys still
custom moderation tagging is just custom reactions
and adding filters based on reactions to the feed algo
a feed with filters like "posts marked funny by people i follow" is not that hard to do

will def get messy in practice so the sooner they start the better.
ultimately the best is being able to pick anyone's labelling systems both for accounts & posts, not just Bluesky's. as in i hope it gets baked into protocol not just app
block is wrong word here, i'm more interested in "hide all activity by this user"
ultimately Bluesky should *never* be able to decide that @berduck.deepfates.com should be banned or hidden
however, Bluesky should be able to suggest a curated block list which the users can optionally subscribe to, and any subscriber would not see Berduck anymore
block/ignore lists can also be shared around by relays the same way e-mail servers share spammer lists around (most email users aren't aware of the behind-the-scenes stuff)
these reputation/block/recommend etc. features should always be opt-in for the end user. optionality is key
actually lemme clarify something
the "following" feed should come direct from uncensored global relays
the "hot/for you" type stuff should come from small federated moderated relays with custom curation algos
the TRICKIEST are threads. that's where reputation systems are important

it's clear that the path forward is a censorship-free distribution mechanism with heavily moderated/curated frontends
theoretically once bluesky has its own moderation/curation stuff in place, it should be OK for all of twitter to broadcast on AT even

since Bluesky owns our account private keys for now, what's going to happen during migration to self-sovereignty? is there a mechanism to move to a new keypair without losing all followers? bc if not it's still not a trustless system

is Bluesky still closed, as in posts can only be made through the official backend? I really want to play with public key verifications & posting messages direct into the network
