Hah interesting: electric cars are significantly cheaper in Denmark and Sweden (for once), and it's likely mostly due to a much larger market share and more competitive market, although Sweden has a bigger market overall.
Waymo is now blocking the only eastbound through lane on Townsend, a key SF arterial. AVs have a scaling problem in cities. This isn't just inconvenience but a loss of network capacity. Waymo cuts SF's ability to move people and goods in its streets. User convenience ≠ system efficiency
Country that invented social media has low social cohesion. 🤔
Yes. Actually I heard that interview just before I heard the Volts-podcast - quite a coincidence.
Regarding the questions whether data centres may be denied grid access (or worse, displace industrial electrification): The Danish national TSO has a 63GW backlog of connection requests (vs a current total 7GW demand) and is now asking the government for permission to say no to more data centres.
That’s almost exactly the same as the current EU ETS price.
This is such great reporting.
I really wonder if the slipshod approach we see from the chemicals sector is indicative of other fast and loose approaches to honest dialogue.
Indeed. Interest organisations work to advance their members’ interests. And the members who can afford to pay are typically the incumbents.
But in this case it seems the interest organisation is more pushing its own interests 🤔
An influential industry petition criticizing the European Union’s core climate policy implied its demands were supported by some 1,350 companies and associations.
Now some firms deny they signed up.

There is a clear trend that emerges. Countries first tap into the solar market, then a year later they seek to deploy batteries.
Europe did that after the gas crisis caused by Russia's attack on Ukraine. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
FT: "The EU's climate retreat problem: punishing early movers"
Policy Pendulum
One real problem with rewarding the laggards: punishing those who took policy pronouncements seriously.
Regulatory uncertainty—and the resulting cost—is a core feature of Trumpian chaos.
It might be more pernicious in the EU that prides itself in rational policy-making.

Excellent framework for analysing and addressing transport poverty, as laid out at today’s conference on EU’s Social Climate Fund, in a brilliant presentation by @giuliomattioli.bsky.social.
Also several other insightful talks and panel discussions. All in all a great day on an important issue.

This is why I write so much about pavement parking
Also regarding parking. 🤯
Great answer! 👌🏻 Hope you don’t mind I use it too. (Now I almost can’t wait until I get the chance)
Dunkel indeed.
Lol, just heard from a German friend who is calling the backup in the Straight of Hormuz right now the "fossil fuel dunkelflaute."
Niche humor.
Dyk evt ned i regnestykkerne her: concito.dk/files/media/...

The French “made-in-Europe” EV bonus, which has also been embraced by the European Commission, means that Renault will start producing the battery for the R5 in Europe from April. This will result in an additional bonus of €1,500–2,000 for buyers.
