Western Europe is already facing multiple climate risks: record temperatures, increased extreme precipitation, droughts, forest fires and extensive economic damage.
North America is already under significant climatic pressure: rising temperatures, more frequent heat waves, increased fire activity, droughts and hydrological changes. These trends will continue in the coming decades, increasing the risks to health, ecosystems and infrastructure.
Future prospects:
- Without significant emissions reductions, global warming will exceed the targets agreed in Paris by a considerable margin.
- Increasing extreme events and irreversible changes are becoming more likely.
