2025. I’ve been building websites for over 25 years! I’m an optimistic type, yet I can’t help but feel uninspired in the popular direction of our field in this moment. There's still meaningful work to do here to be sure, but the driving trend to automate every creative step has become rather... sad.

Pages build as expected but not tags. Help!

Web components solve a lot of problems for me. I'm always excited to learn more and see what problems they solve for others. Plus @scottjehl.com is a great teacher.

I had an experience in the early days of Twitter I'm reminded of. I asked a question and someone was kind enough to respond.

It helped a lot—but the generosity from a random person is what I remember.

Losing that part of Twitter was disappointing and maybe what I'm responding to here.

I get a fair amount of requests for permission to use my personal @11ty.dev site as a template for some other site. I've intentionally not included a license but IDK.

What do people do?
