Someone in NYC should do interviews with middle-school kids who take the subway to and from school every day, to see if they have any advice for Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy who can't seem to go a single day without pissing himself in fear over them.

(Reuters) - U.S. intelligence indicates that Iran's leadership is still largely intact and is not at risk of collapse any time soon after nearly two weeks of relentless U.S. and Israeli bombardment, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

Judge Orders Colorado to Stop Throwing Prisoners in Solitary for Refusing to Work - Bolts
Years after voters amended the state's constitution to ban forced labor in prison, a court ruling could finally make Colorado change how prison guards "compel and coerce" work.
When Nadia Reed refused to work while incarcerated in Colorado, she was punished.
She was put in solitary, not allowed to talk to her family, handcuffed, shackled, & moved to a more punitive part of the prison where she was sexually assaulted.
A judge ruled Colorado has to change its policies.

Coming up on 30 years since the Dunblane school shooting massacre (13th March 1996) and watching another documentary about it. The families wanted to end legal handgun ownership and we passed those laws. Weโve not had a school shooting since. I ache for all Americans who cannot get this done there.

Judge Orders Colorado to Stop Throwing Prisoners in Solitary for Refusing to Work - Bolts
Years after voters amended the state's constitution to ban forced labor in prison, a court ruling could finally make Colorado change how prison guards "compel and coerce" work.
NEW at Bolts: For years, Colorado has been ignoring a ballot initiative that was meant to eliminate forced labor in prisons.
A judge finally said enough, and ordered the state to stop punishing people for refusing to work (for a mere pennies).

Sen. Murray: "I'm just sickened by this. To go into this war unprepared, to use outdated data, and to have this horrific thing happen where children were killed in a school sends a horrible message to those that are in a war with us and to our own constituents about what America's values are."

Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says
A man armed with a rifle rammed a vehicle into a major synagogue in a Detroit suburb and was fatally shot by security.
A guy rammed his car through a door at Detroitโs largest synagogue and got out with a gun and was shot by security before he could massacre everyone inside.
And yes all synagogues that can afford it have security. And yes itโs exactly because of situations like this that they do.

In anti-Muslim post, Tuberville suggests New Yorkโs Mamdani is โthe enemyโ
The Alabama senator, who is running for governor, has previously called for the mass expulsion of Muslims from the United States.
It is both pathetic & dangerous to see Republicans actively stoking a religious war in a country that was founded on the value of religious freedom.
ย
Fortunately, the good people of NYC did not fall for this grotesque, bigoted fear mongering against @mayor.nyc.gov.

Thread.
This is why we should make minimal competence a requirement in a candidate for President. I donโt care what bad vibes someone got from Kamala Harris; neither she nor any other minimally competent person would have done this.

The FBI routinely scours this intercepted data to read the private messages of Americans without a warrant, a practice privacy advocates call a โbackdoor search.โ
In a floor speech earlier this week, Wyden warned that Congress is debating reauthorization without a complete picture of the governmentโs activities. โThereโs another example of secret law related to Section 702, one that directly affects the privacy rights of Americans,โ he said, noting that successive administrations have refused to declassify the matter. โWhen it is eventually declassified, the American people will be stunned that it took so long and that Congress has been debating this authority with insufficient information.โ
The internal oversight mechanisms meant to check the governmentโs sweeping powers have been systematically dismantled over the past year. FBI director Kash Patel, who previously criticized the warrantless searches, flipped on the issue after taking office. He now defends the program as a โcritical tool.โ
Featuring yet another alarming statement from Senator Wyden concerning classified information he believes the public ought to know.

US Lawmakers Move to Kill the FBIโs Warrantless Wiretap Access
A bipartisan bill would force the FBI to get a warrant to read Americansโ messages and ban the federal purchase of commercial data on US residents ahead of a critical April deadline.
NEW: A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced a bill requiring warrants for FBI searches of Americans' communications under FISA, aligning federal law w/ a 2025 ruling that found the practice unconstitutional.
It would also ban the government from buying Americans' private data from data brokers.

Professors will recognize this kid as the student who didn't do the reading but still has very strong opinions about how it's all "bullshit," except this time he's not the callow student who's going to fail your course, he's the reviewer who's going to cancel your grant.

This is an important likely correction--it was almost certainly the synagogue security who shot the driver, not the police.
Also FYI: Temple Israel is the largest reform synagogue in the U.S. & has ~3,400 members.
