I mean, hate is a strong word. He could have disliked the grainy compression artefacts therefore used a style that evaded it somewhat for the next game or two until scanning tech improved, but still ultimately liked and been proud of his work.
Out of interest, where did Chan claim to hate it?
I would have assumed it was the gameβs art direction that influenced the change more than him disliking his own work, given he returned to the richer and more textured style in the future, including for Grim Fandango.
You donβt want to know.
It's hard to express how much is going on here and what a big deal it is. We've been building toward this for over 8 years now, and we genuinely built a video game history research tool that is usable by anyone. We're democratizing game research through a free, no-bullshit, human-curated resource.
Le Chimp is finito!

How the hell did this happen?
Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.
He still has a bit of his edge as opposed to the pre-Rare efforts. You canβt really see it in the Mario Kart clip though where he just seemed insanely goofy looking to me. π₯²
I was mostly fine with him in the movie so hopefully they can marry it all up.
Iβm aware this is the movie Donkey Kong. I am no less dismayed.

You have to admire the commitment of sites like @techradar.com to push how utterly contemptible they can make the user experience before people refuse to ever come back.
Getting this build of my game tested was such a mistake. It was completely bug free before I did that. Lesson learned.
Damn. They really have no hope of ever living up to this game.

Perhaps a very supportive mentor or teacher can give guidance on those really early stages if you need it. But yes, if you take it to the broader communities of the evil internet then feedback may seem harsh. π
Iβve seen posts where itβs clearly the first sketch theyβve managed to complete and itβs admittedly hard to give much feedback aside from vague praise for trying. Thereβs no point getting into deep analysis over baby steps, it will likely just feel like being raked over the coals.
It can *sometimes* be a case of sharing too early. If I were learning music again, I wouldnβt put videos of me barely stringing a few notes together online.
Similarly, thereβs little feedback anyone can give on total beginner sketches. You just have to do the 100s and 1000s of sketches to improve.
God, thereβs just something about that frantic mashing of the button when youβre strangling someone in #HITMAN. @mariuswinter.games @remiolsen.fun
