Omg, @officialgdc.bsky.social is nearly upon us! I have been fortunate enough to be invited by the incomparable @samanthabeart.bsky.social to speak at the event on Friday, March 13th talking about community management in the industry.
Okay I was hoping the test print of the tweaked design was going to be here in time to launch it on Saturday for The Thing That I'm Doingβ’οΈ but it is currently supposed to arrive on Monday because of course it is.
BUT that does mean that barring disaster I should have it up by next Saturday's Thingβ’οΈ
I had a *bunch* of people tag me last year and say I should try to vend at Soonercon, so figure it's worth posting I got waitlisted so I will likely not be there π₯²
I tried! Maybe next year.
Promotional Image of the Horizonβs Call game on Sword & Key. The text to the left reads βtwitch.tv/sword_and_keyβ and βHorizonβs Call Sundays at 3pm PT / 6pm ETβ. The background image is of an oceanic scene and islands. In the top left is the Sword & Key logo. To the right is the party grouped up. From left to right: Kallista - a blue haired/skinned tiefling cleric in armor with a sparking warhammer, (top) Proximus - a triton in mithril armor and wiedling a glaive, (bottom) Lilβ Geoffrey - a small metal homunculus servant designed to look like a toy wereshark, (top) Acacia - Acacia, a tall centaur with her brown and white hair in a braid, holding a glowing/sparkly sphere and wooden staff, (bottom) Wynni - a sea elf artificer with her blue hair in pigtails and lots of artificer gear (pockets, vials, etc), and Scarlett Shours - a siren storm sorceror who is wearing tight black pants, boots, and a flowy teal top that shows off the top of her back where we can see a tattoo, she has a right metal prosthetic arm and pink hair. All characters have hair blowing in the wind.

THIS WEEK ON SWORD & KEY...
The continuation of some of our finest series as well as the return of Horizon's Call for its SIXTH SEASON!
All times listed are in PT and all streams are live on the one and only twitch.tv/sword_and_key
I am so pumped about it π€©
A photo of Jenn (the person behind Long Dog Dice) standing outside with her arms crossed, not looking at the camera. She is wearing a black heather hooded long sleeve tee shirt. Printed on the right hand side of the chest on two lines is "Kallista, Tempest Cleric". Down the left sleeve is a stylized series of stat modifier boxes from a D&D character sheet. The implication is the shirt is customized for the given character.
Don't mind me, just testing some things out π
I have ordered a couple of other samples as well, including one for a friend who needed a different size, so I will have more data points later this week!
This particular test seems to be right on par with what I usually expect from unisex clothing, and seemed accurate to the size chart I was provided with!
Yes! I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the hooded one as an option when it goes live (because it is more expensive) but I personally love it.
Well I will have good news for you soon!

For those playing along, I posted this when I started a d6.
I have just finished that d6.
(With a 30 minute break because my arm was tired π
)
"How long does it take to make a new dice master?"
I'm working on one right now so I actually did the math.
At a *minimum*, the method I use means every face gets β¨οΈ2000β¨οΈ passes across 5 grits of sand/polishing paper, and THEN gets at least 2 rounds of a dremel with polishing paste.
So, a while π
Aaaaah so glad you like them! Thanks for the fantastic unboxing, I always love seeing reactions to the shinies π₯°
thank you so much to @longdogdice.com and ofc @gamemastermonday.bsky.social for the Cast Away prize of the most STUNNING dice i own. cannot wait to use this gorgeous set to remember all the amazing memories of Tundra (even the Wheel of Pain)
Good thing I'm also halfway through the -/- die then too huh
(Also a spindown d20 π)
Photo of a +/+ d6 dice master. It is transparent blue without inked numbers.
Finished a new dice master.
Where my MtG folks at?
A cluttered stainless steel table spread with wooden cutouts and blank pieces waiting to be painted. Surrounded by art supplies.
Currently taking color suggestions for *A LOT* of ink painting pieces. Iβve almost got the wood parts of the layer art done, then Iβve got 7 d20 lamps and like 30 layer art pieces to paint!

π₯THIS WEEK ON SWORD & KEY... π₯
This does *not* apply to any of the newer designs (like the Horizon's Call series) as I already knew this problem was coming and I specifically developed new releases with my replacement colorants!
Color Spray and Summon Fey are also unaffected as they use different stuff.
I've got enough left to do a handful of sets as their current versions, but once I run out I will be taking those items down as I can't reliably make them as their photos show them.
All that to say, if you've been eyeing anything on the pre-order page, those designs will be in limited supply!
The brand of dyes I like to use for resin vanished a few months ago, and I've been hunting for suitable replacements and running tests for a while.
I have found some things that are *close*, but are different enough that some of the established designs like Mass Heal don't quite work the same.
Some makers (myself included) are also fine to re-ink the numbers! I've done a couple of these initial black on black sets and redone the numbers to make them higher contrast for those who want that level of readability.
Like any functional artwork, sometimes you gotta go for the β¨οΈvibeβ¨οΈ
A closeup of a 7 piece resin dice set. They are polished black with flashes of purple foil in the surface, and inked with matte black numbers.
Thank you!
I will say - sometimes when you see low contrast dice from makers we are *aware* and it was an aesthetic choice. I personally mostly favor the high contrast, BUT I do have some designs that I ink for the look of them.
My big example is this black on black; I know it's not for everybody!
This is a good time to remind folks that I take commissions! The form walks you through base pricing and options, but if you don't see quite what you need feel free to drop me an email!

A 7 piece resin dice set in an open palm. The dice are clear and PACKED with opalescent mylar to make them incredibly reflective in a rainbow of colors, and the numbers are inked in a matte periwinkle. The dice also have ultra fine glitter sparkles throughout, but it is not well visible in the photo.
A secret gift commission that recently made it to the recipient!
