my only regret running Dark Sun 4e was burning out around Paragon tier and running the rest of the campaign in Godbound. the final battles were still great spectacles, but man i would've loved to see how the 4e tactical fights would've gone

i howled at this SLAPSHOT (1977) reference coming straight out of left field
oh that looks good as hell
Twin Peaks Lucy commission <3
A tumblr post from orteil42 (cookie clicker dev) that says: am i losing the drive to create things for an increasingly alien and hostile world whose mounting taste for fascism feels like a cold metal vise around my skull or am i just lazy and unmedicated and looking for excuses
Sorry for the lack of activity it’s literally just this
*evangelion, not evangelism
lmao yeah. my mech game idea went from ‘i bet adeptus evangelism could suck less shit’ to ‘okay this game is now gm-optional and uses a tarot deck’
You all thought that Trump couldn't bring traditional masculinity back, but here he is creating the conditions for the most Dudes Rock movie of all time: William Friedkin's 1977 film Sorcerer.
decided to check out Dogsred after finishing Golden Kamuy and i am delighted to see that satoru noda still got it
It really is just money in the pocket for indies; so many folks *want the thing*, they just haven't heard of it, in my experience.
In Reddit in particular, self-promotion is heavily discouraged, so we rely heavily on fans and peers to bring up our work when relevant.
A screenshot from itch.io dashboard showing views over the past two weeks. It jumps from around 30 per day on average to 80+ per day in the last two days.
I cannot stress enough how important it is that you recommend indie TTRPGs you like online. Someone on Reddit asked for a game rec, only like 3 out of 20 people said my game, but it made for a massive wave of visits to the Itch page. Word of mouth is real.

i love how she has shoujo eyes but then she opens her mouth and starts shit talking everyone
reset the clock on randos online acting like Apocalypse World shot their dog bc they don't like that it acknowledges the existence of sex between consenting adults
currently most of the way through The Wizards & The Warriors and I could not echo this recommendation enough. beautifully written, antiheroic fantasy in a world that defies the stereotypes implied by the bland title.
one of my favorite moments of TNG is when Picard is immediately unable to contain his horse autism
also Legends of the Wulin was great for this in that the Conditions you could inflict with your attacks could extend to emotional or philosophical changes, which the character would have to figure out how to cure
my one and only critique of the Pendragon game i was a part of was that the GM didn’t force a lot of
Passion and Trait checks for PCs with high scores. i loved seeing if my character would go literally insane from how much they cared about hospitality
characters from Granado Espada
A render of Ann Darrow from Peter Jackson's King Kong for the PS2 (screenshot specifically from Noodle's video about the game)
Monster Hunter Tri
whatever you call this art style - PS2 era medium-poly characters with hand-made highly detailed but also somewhat blurry textures with baked-in lighting - I absolutely love it and it makes me want to drop everything and make games
there's a strong desire for systems where charop/system mastery are a legitimate form of skill expression, but none of them want to do what it would take to actually make it work (draft abilities during play, make characters more disposable, and be ruthless about eliminating unnecessary bookkeeping)
this cures what ails me every time
Cop hunting serial killer on TV: i know he did it, he’s just too smart to leave evidence! how long do i have to keep playing by the book?!
Cop in reality: hey man, this teenage boy said he escaped from your basement and you’re going to kill and eat him. anyway, here he is, have a good one
me teaching people skills i've developed because i enjoy them: Haha fuck yeah!!! yes!
me delegating tasks to the people i've taught: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.
“Wow it’s like I’m playing a movie that’s a game that’s a show that’s a game again!!! Wow it’s like I died in 2010?!? And I don’t even get the peace of death? Just mourning? The bardo is the familiar with its essence missing? Like a remake of some commercial shit that sucked already?”
“Yes wife, I do not respect your autonomy and values, and that’s why I’m going to force you to vote for the Green Party candidate Hannah Spencer” is a totally real situation I can imagine happening, especially since that horse kicked me in the head that one time.
this malapropism makes me insane, but not as much as ‘towing the line’. i want to pull my own teeth whenever someone uses that one
i saw a comment on HEALTH’s ‘What’s In My Bag?’ bit for Amoeba that said they look like a band on the verge of breaking up every moment they’re on camera and i still think about it today
one thing i really love about this episode is how it doesn’t offer any closure. Mulder and Scully are wrong about what the Thing is, and they never learn the truth! it just stops on its own!!
god this was a good one. every episode with darin morgan’s involvement was fantastic
my boss at the southern reach told me expeditions keep going missing in area x so i asked how many theyve sent in and my boss said they just find new people afterwards and i said it sounds like theyre just feeding people to area x and lowry started crying
