This time around, we have to worry not just about whether they're lying, but about whether they're lying specifically to cash in by swaying the stakes on Polymarket and Kalshi bets.

The White House has submitted its War Powers report to Congress for the attack on Iran.
The justification for military action rests on 1) Iran's supposed continued quest for nuclear weapons and 2) the threat Iran's missiles pose to US forces, vessels, civilians and those of partners. 1/n

Robert Papeβa leading IR scholar in aerial bombingβoffers three historical lessons from his seminal "Bombing to Win: Air Power and Coercion in War":
1: "Air power rarely produces friendly regime change."
2: "External attack fuses regime & nation."
3: "Retaliation is often delayed & asymmetric."

Important piece @inkstickmedia.com by @tylermcbrien.com on the ever-worsening drive to profit off deportation and immigrant incarceration in America.
"US immigration enforcement has evolved into a rapidly growing multi-billion-dollar industry in which profitability increasingly dictates policy and enforcement priorities."

Great point, ok how's this for illustrative purposes: New York state requires cosmetologists complete a 1,000 hour course in order to get certified

The whistleblower docs seem to confirm what @nickmiroff.bsky.social reported in @theatlantic.com, that ICE cut training hours for ERO officers "roughly in half, partly by eliminating Spanish-language courses"
To put ICE Enforcement Removal Operations officers' 6-week, 334-hour training into context here's roughly what others get:
- FBI spec agents ~20 wks 800 hrs
- DEA spec agents ~18 wks 720 hrs
- Secret Service ~30 wks 1,200 hrs
- ATF spec agents ~27 wks 1,080+ hrs
- CBP ~19 wks, 720 hrs
At the time of posting (1:00 pm ET), the Department of Homeland Security and ICE have not responded to a request for comment.
View the ICE whistleblower documents here: www.blumenthal.senate.gov/imo/media/do...
The docs seem to suggest that ICE ERO cadets receive 334 hours of trainingβfar fewer than beforeβwhich appears to counter Acting Director Lyonsβ sworn testimony to Congress on Feb 12. This is also far fewer training hours than other law enforcement officers.
A comparison of syllabi pre-hiring surge in July '25 vs. Feb '26βappears to show ICE also cut many classes from ERO officer training, incl Use of Force Simulation Training and legal ones on topics such as US govt structure, ERO Authority, and criminal vs removal Proceedings
Docs from July 2021 vs Oct 2025 seem to show that ICE eliminated over a dozen exams previously required by ERO officers, including:
- Judgement Pistol Shooting
- Determine Removability
- Encounters to Detention
- Detention to Removal
- Criminal Encounters
NEW: Documents from two anonymous whistlebowers obtained by Sen. Blumenthal's office shed light on how DHS has lowered training & testing standards for new recruits to meet ambitious hiring targets for ICE Enforcement Removal Operations officers ahead of public forum today π§΅

This striking @iceflightmonitor.bsky.social visualization of the uptick in both scale and reach of domestic transfer flights between the Biden and Trump admins raises serious concerns about moving ICE detainees far from their families and lawyersβamplified by reports of harsh conditions on flights

(5/5) Read the entire complaint, including its call for "the special procedures mechanisms to spur the U.S. to implement major recommendations" here: www.law.uchicago.edu/sites/defaul...
(4/5) The Trump admin's embrace of "punitive detention and transfer practices" especially in cases of family separation, "often amounts to short-term enforced disappearances"βwith the complaint noting ICE's locator tool, often the only way track detainees, is frequently inaccurate or non-functional
(3/5) The complaint further alleges that the Trump admin "systematically dismantled the independence and impartiality" of immigration courts thru "mass firings, forced transfers," and pressure "to align their decisions with executive policy"βundermining the rule of law
