Top marks go to Martin! π
Well done to all who correctly identified Winston Churchill as the painter.

π Great reply.
A framed painting. It shows a body of water with large green trees and shrubbery around the edge. Light is depicted as bouncing off the water creating a feeling of a shimmering surface.
Do you know who painted this?

Nest box surveys, carried out by licensed surveyors, provide the best evidence of how dormice populations are changing. At Nymans, monthly checks take place and recently the first Dormouse was found. It's an encouraging sign as we continue our work to improve biodiversity in our woodlands.

Bodiam Castle in spring
Welcome to #MedievalMarch exploring some of our medieval places & collections, starting with perhaps the most iconic of castles, Bodiam.
Weβre celebrating a significant anniversary - we have cared for the castle for 100 years, since it was bequeathed to @nationaltrust.org.uk in 1926.

Oh, that sweet, sweet joy when we can put the 'big coat' away.
Daffodils never fail to make us smile. Their arrival is joyful.
Spring is a mood. We like this.
We like this approach, you can't go wrong.
We're curious, when do you say spring starts? Do you follow the meteorological calendar with the season beginning on 1 March or are you waiting for astronomical spring which is determined by the Earth's tilt as it travels around the Sun? βοΈ
The walled garden at Wallington in Northumberland. The sloped green lawn is filled with blooming purple crocuses. It's quite the sight! Beyond the wall at the top of the garden we can just see a brick garden building. It is a slightly grey day but the photo is packed with colour.
A view of the sloped lawn at Wallington in Northumberland. You can't see much of the green lawn because is filled with blooming purple crocuses. It is a slightly grey day but the photo is packed with colour.
We're obsessed with the crocus display at Wallington, Northumberland.
Catch them while you can!
We're very much enjoying colour-filled walks taking in these spring sights.
We're not aware that she did make this but would also love to think of her spending time crafting this for her much-loved holiday home.

This silver-covered prayer book was copied in France in the early 16th century. We think it's probably the National Trust's most beautiful medieval book...

A circular decorative mosaic sign. It has Greenway House in capital lettering and a depiction of the large white house with trees and a pathway running to it.
And #MosaicMonday rolls round once more. We couldn't resist sharing this photo of a decorative nameplate from Agatha Christie's holiday home in Devon.

βThe Six Seasonsβ curated by Emily Allchurch and James Freeman (James Freeman Gallery), is at Upton House and Gardens, Warwickshire from 8 March β 5 July.
A painting of rolling hills on a sunny day. From a high vantage point we see many people working the land in different ways, they are carrying tools, baskets, tending to horses and cutting crops. Across the landscape are houses of different size.
A digital artwork showing rolling hills on a sunny day. From a high vantage point we see a wheelbarrow planted up with poppies, people on bicycles, camping and admiring the view. Across the landscape we see small houses, churches and a tractor working in a field.
A painting of a landscape on a moody day. A small group of people herd cows through trees. We see a river snaking through the lowland.
A digital artwork of a hillside where a lone cow stands by a fence, a woman is walking her dog along a permissive footpath. A motorway snakes through the low land. We can see a camping site with motorhomes parked up.
In βThe Six Seasons β Early Summer (after Bruegel)β Bruegelβs haymakers have been exchanged for hikers and campers in a lush Shropshire landscape, while the river in Bruegelβs Autumn has become the M5, todayβs equivalent of a trade highway.
A painting of a winter scene. We see houses on a holl with snow-covered roofs. Water has frozen to create ice to skate on. Groups of people huddle by fires to keep warm and two figures walk with a pack of dogs.
A digital artwork showing a snowy scene. Houses have snow on the roof, snowmen have been built and groups of people walk towards iced areas to skate.
Probably the best-known painting in Bruegelβs series, βHunters in the Snow' records the harshest winter in a period known as the 'Little Ice Age'. The updated scene shows us East Sussex, where 'snow days' are increasingly rare and bring with them the chance of leisure, rather than a sense of threat.
It's Bruegel, but not as you know it...
More than 450 years ago, Pieter Bruegel the Elder created a series of six paintings of the seasons to hang in the dining room of an Antwerp merchant. Now, Sussex artist Emily Allchurch has used photographs of the English landscape to create an updated view.
