Six people and a baby stand in front of the coach house. Pictured are the owner, mother in law, child, state reps LaPointe and Mah, and Ben and Steven are on the right.

This coach house was built in 2023 by the couple who own the property to have a place for their mother in law to live in and help take care of their newborn child.

The “granny flat” is real.

Of course, this isn't the main plot, but I find it fascinating how the `stonks` guy has been sitting on the meme bench for this round of stock drama.

Does he have a new hobby? Is he contemplating the terribly short half life of memes? I wish I knew!

Totally agree. It's way more like a colleague, in that you both can have your own preferred ways of working.

Claude Code fucking rules. It makes Cursor look sort of manic and sloppy. Like, totally unexpected side effect is that it's driven me back to VSCode.

Like, I just kept dropping screenshots of Quickbooks into Claude and asking, "Okay, which category should I use?"

Essentially, I had Claude balance my books. This should be a native function.

I just setup Quickbooks for my freelancing business, and I am shocked at my own feelings about it. My intuition keeps repeating, "This is pre-AI software." Very quickly, stuff like this is going to feel as dated as a DOS terminal.

Dunkelman’s Why Nothing Works is such an incredibly well timed book. Plus, it’s a gripping read.

California’s FAIR Plan Gets $1 Billion Bailout After L.A. Fires The move will likely lead to higher costs for households across the state, and may push more insurers to leave, intensifying a home insurance crisis.

This seems like a generally bad thing for homeowners in California: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/11/c...

Love the density on Western, but having lived a block from there, I can tell you that no matter how many times you walk past that building, whenever you see it, you will always say to yourself, "Damn that's ugly."

As a rubyist, when I code in python, it feels like someone trying to turn english into spanish with "el's" and "o's." As in, "open el csv-reader-o, por favor".

This is great to read/watch and all, but it does leave me with one huge question:

When did Ezra Klein start to dress like a magician? Specifically, the sort of late 90s magician who you'd find in a bar doing cigarette tricks?

Sterling Bay's Marcey Street Project Likely Heading To Full Council For Vote — Without Alderman's Support Sterling Bay’s 600-unit project could advance under the city’s Connected Communities Ordinance, bypassing aldermanic prerogative.

😍😍😍

Is it alright to arrive late at the meeting? As in, is there any benefit in showing up, if I can't make it until 7:00? I really want to support this housing!

$2.55 is actually pretty cheap

I feel like the true announcement from OpenAI was that they're struggling to raise more money.

I went into a Micro Center today (long story, poor choices), and I simply didn’t think a store could be so hostile to its customers

The Chicago public school calendar is straight up ridiculous. It’s like they asked a fifth grader who hates geography to decide on the frequency and duration of their holidays

I’ve found that the tech accounts I followed on Twitter are only just now really starting to migrate over. My bet is that it’ll pick up more after new years.

Just listened to the @volts.wtf interview with Cory Doctorow. It was a delightful surprise to hear hear someone outside the area of expertise nevertheless deliver a fantastic interview.

I can believe that San Francisco appropriated tornados from the Midwest. How would they feel if all of sudden Chicago stole their thing and became unaffordable?
