Prima, das klappt also immerhin. Vielleicht wäre ein Sync-Indikator da nützlich und die App könnte die doppelten Sammlungen ausgrauen oder ausblenden, auch wenn die Daten selbst erst etwas später gereinigt werden... 🤔

Hab den Quellcode nochmal angeschaut und die Sammlungen werden automatisch nach ihren Namen dedupliziert wenn die App ihre internen Backups macht. Kann nur etwas dauern falls der iCloud-Sync noch läuft. Sollten aber also automatisch verschwinden.

Verdoppeln der Sammlungen hab ich schon lange nicht mehr gesehen, kann aber vorkommen wenn die App auf mehreren Geräten re-installiert wird. Ich schau mal ob sich da was machen lässt...

Danke! Für neue Alben kommt manchmal der Caching-Mechanismus der Music App in den Weg. Oder Longplay ist noch dabei einen Refresh zu machen. Im Prinzip ist was Longplay macht recht simpel, aber hängt stark von der Music-App ab. Das ist leider ne Black Box.

It does play MP3s, yes. What do you mean that they have effects though?

Longplay 1.0.5 for macOS is out.

It includes a couple of new AppleScript commands to get the current playing track and album, and rate the track. The Alfred workflow has been updated to support those, too.

A round of Longplay updates just dropped: 2.4.4 for iOS and 1.0.4 for macOS.

On quality-of-life improvement on iOS is that Longplay will now stick around longer when playback is paused and the app is in the background.

@danielandrews.com The latest update, 1.0.4, has another tweak related to this. Going to Settings > Maintenance > Reset Metadata might also help. Curious if that improves things for you.

Hmm, that is weird. It's working fine for me. Will do some testing what might be causing that... can you make a screen recording by any chance and send that to words@longplay.app?

Good to hear it’s better. It is quite a workout for the collection view at that window size. I’ll dig into the performance trace some more.

This should be much improved in the latest update, 1.0.3. Please give it a try and thanks again for the report.

I think I found the issue. There's a code path where thumbnails aren't properly downsized from the big album art on macOS. This means that the thumbnails could end up with the full size, and that would then obviously impact scrolling performance a lot. On it.

Hmm, dang. Can you please send me the latest log file from your “~/Library/Group Containers/7N3B54ALZK.app.longplay.Longplay/Logs” to words@longplay.app? Will check if there’s something suspicious in there and I’ll do some more performance testing today in case something is misbehaving.

There’s quite some background processing happening initially to get the album thumbnails, analyse their colours, and extract additional metadata from Apple Music. (I need to add a status indicator for that.)

After that it should become smoother. Please let me know if it persists.

Finally! After 3+ years of development, Longplay for Mac is shipping today.

The journey from "let's try Catalyst" to "wait, stuttering playback?" to "updating the dock icon fixes it?!" was... quite something. I love the result though.
