-the problem of everyone on earth.
i dogged on the finale when it came out but, in hindsight, Eren's motivations being petty, childish and born of a deep deep repression is something that's easier to digest when you realize that real life facists are twice as petty, twice as childish, twice as repressed, and equally keen to make it-
almost any other animanga series that became super duper popular in the 2010s onwards? oomf said this as well but AoT being willing to murk a character every now and then to keep you on your toes is so refreshing given the artistic landscape we now occupy
i'm a lot kinder to Attack on Titan several years out from its ending, especially since the last half being "oh yeah a lot of Armin's allies, including the protagonist, succumb to reactionary fascism and try to start an indiscriminate war of retaliation" has more bite to it than like...
uh
there's probably an Oda revenant somewhere, just not Nobunaga if that's what you're asking (he didn't kill Yoshimoto directly anyway)
i did actually kill Yoshimoto the "accurate" way solo, because you can just summon a blue revenant
i've come around to the Unmoored World a bit but wooft Battahl/Volcanic Island are both pure dead air and also really boringly designed.
it's less that it peaks and moreso that the game immediately plays its deck of compelling and enjoyable monster fights in Vermund, with everything after being either reskins or just monsters from DD1 with their AI barely changed
-by crashing into the tree behind me, knocked off course by my hashtag epic gamer timing
and i just thought
wow this is some of the best RPG combat ever made. shame it'll peak in the 8th hour of a 60 hour game.
a minotaur ambushed me way earlier than the (seemingly) scripted one and killed two of my pawns, so i had to play matador as an Archer and kite it or risk dying in one hit
it bullrushed me right as i knocked a perfect dire arrow and the impact frames were perfectly timed with it eating shit-
zoey!
Four baby bunnies surround me. The light brow one on my lap is trying to eat my shirt
Their wicked greed was sickening
it's so weird playing a modern MH game and then going to GU, where it's still kinda forgiving but also that you need to commit to that spirit blade combo and will job FIERCELY if you try to use it willy nilly
meanwhile in Iceborne-onwards you can just cancel into spirit sheathe
nah it was swiftly left by the road, barely even got any patches lmao
i dunno. this time i approached it not as a DD1 sequel but a DD1 remake, and while that does make some things slot into place nicely it's just soooooooooooooooooooooooooo... god this game is messy
Dragon's Dogma 2 is really good despite me initially disliking it, huh
(she briefly forgot that the game is great in Vermund and immediately nosedives once you enter Battahl)
everyone is nice to me :)
2 lets you be SO much more aggressive even with the weapons from 1, esp. since half of the earlier yokai soul cores have abilities that let you effortlessly cancel endlag
Bioquack Infiniduck is the first game where there was a huge gap between common consensus and my actual lived experience. i genuinely thought i was going crazy when i rolled credits, went online and saw people praising it.
as far as i remember, *base* World was pretty good about this until Iceborne introduced a lot of the Super Monster Hunter Hyper Arcade Turbo moves that remove a lot of commitment, or just let you ignore getting Teostra nova'd while swinging.
in GU the SnS is unique because it attacks so fast and has basically no recovery frame, so it's safe and you can even roll out of Plesioth's evil fucking hipcheck if you want. everything else? you've got poke moves, use them if you want to live.
i've been playing a ton of MHGU while away and it's kinda nuts how much moveset designed has arguably decayed in the intervening years since Gen
counters and hyper armor attacks being super rare makes it so much harder to just keep throwing out your big heavy strong moves all the damn time
i'm in the house like
Ham
hello, i am going to take a brief(~) break, because i'm currently undergoing the kind of cataclysmic oh-god-i-just-detached-the-cable-connecting-me-to-my-own-sense-of-existence that usually portends something awful. i'll be fine. ttyl.
ITTY BITTY
ye, march 27th!
yeah :D then you can summon a sleep toad which they deploy with a high five and little awawawawa cheers
