a tumblr post by meatgoat showing a meal of cashews and whiskey at the Gundam Cafe. "this is crazy. char's girl dinner for only 660 yen at the gundam cafe"
I've always had a great deal of fondness for the semi-frequency of viral posts where someone in Japan is minding their own business filming something and suddenly someone in full cosplay is biking somehwere, seemingly for no other reason than it amuses them.
Any republican that tries to make this into something should be required to describe what God’s cock looks like

i'm not crazy about node graph vfx (i write my shaders in hlsl) but it's gotta beat Whatever Shuriken Is Doing
considering how expensive per particle modification is in shuriken i wouldn't call it a particularly useful feature in production anyway.
regardless, i haven't - people don't mention it a lot! i'm guessing it took a bit to mature similarly to urp? got any good resources?
this is part of why i went on a tear about doing gameplay calculations in particles, you just give up way too much control and the workarounds are jank city

they're powerful but very closed off. if you want any external vector data to modify behavior in real time good fuckin luck making it performant
god damn working with shuriken (unity particles) can be a pain in the ass but i /finally/ got a really promising effect working that i cribbed by frame by framing through a game from 2005
it's time to return to the house like carpet

"Just go indie" fails to understand much of the problems with animation under capitalism right now, that the ratio of time crunch, working wages, financial results, regulation of the funding and safety nets for more experimental projects is not in a good place right now.
also the fact that the american medical school system essentially bakes in a lot of hazing into how its residencies work so the personality type aggregate of the people who make it through is a really lopsided chart
essentially the entire problem with doctoring is that two totally different professions— medicine and care— have been combined into one, and people who want to do medicine broadly resent the expectation to perform care, to disastrous results.
it’s coming home
One of the fun parts of writing this essay was getting to describe the fighting game genre as a developer instead of a player, and explain how stuff like camera expectations and single-screen multiplayer do a lot to constrain the design space to keep the focus on combat above all else.
