very grateful to @catherineweiss.bsky.social for taking this little story and giving it a home at HAD, one of my favorite repositories of unclassifiable beauty on the increasingly bad internet
in keeping with my policy of using social media to promote friends’ work, @mikeduncan.bsky.social’s bold decision to revive his incredible Revolutions podcast with a one-off “intermission” speculative fiction season has been a huge success & you all should tune in podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/1...
a block quote from a New Yorker article: “Reached for comment, the author of the letter said, ‘If you print that, I will deny I wrote it.’ When he was reminded that it had been sent from the same personal e-mail account that he still uses, he said, ‘I don't care. I'll just say it never happened.’”
computer, show me a quote that unintentionally doubles as a succinct summary of the era in which we live:
I’m excited to read the book and understand that better
I’d strongly encourage you to actually read the book b/c it focuses on two people who staunchly fought the Iraq War consensus (Greenwald/Taibbi)
then in March you got Sasha Hom’s novel SIDEWORK, another one I heard workshopped and cannot wait to read — Sasha has one of the best narrative voices of any writer I know blacklawrencepress.com/books/sidewo...
later in feb, Elyse Durham’s epic Cold War ballet novel MAYA & NATASHA drops — having read early chapters of this in workshops I’m really excited to get to read the full thing bookshop.org/p/books/maya...
in February @eoinhiggins.bsky.social’s OWNED comes out, an incredibly timely look at how tech bought and corrupted the media www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/eoin-...
I suppose I should use social media for good, so, here are some books by friends coming out soon that you should buy
@margareteby.bsky.social’s YOU GOTTA EAT drops on Tuesday and is exactly the kind of practical book I need for these insane times www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/756683...
hello fellow teens and welcome back to web 1.5
I don’t like this trend. Really, I would like to wear navy Japanese suits with lines sharp enough to cut steel, but also designed for people who are 6’/200 lb and have shoulders like that Carol Burnett Show sketch where she comes down the stairs wearing the curtain rod:
screenshot of a tweet by Roi Fainéant Press that reads “Tuesday vibes are almost indefinable, right? So is this piece "$300 masterclass on how to get rejected by the New York Times' "Modern Love" column" by @chascarey. Is it poetry? Is it Flash? you be the judge on 7/9 when you can read the whole thing in Dance Card 42!”
Extremely proud to have my first prose publication in a long time show up over with Roi Fainéant Press next week.

Devastating loss. Both bands staples in my rotation. Saw HS at the Bell House & absolutely lost it at how good they were. Thought I’d get to see Jehu at some point, figured they had one more tour in them. 55 is way too young. Life is short.
Guess I’m just going to have to post through it over here, huh?
I have no idea how to find, import, or otherwise follow the people I care about from the 4 other social media sites I’ve had the misfortune of building a relationship with, any advice on that front to make this new barren hellscape more tolerable would be appreciated
new hellsite, who dis
