Basically do it if you have to but don't make it a habit. Your car will not perform well with cheap gas.
Wont hurt but it does put a strain on things. The ECU (engine control unit) has to adjust timing,spark etc. to compensate for the lower octane rating of the gasoline. Under normal driving the ECU does okay but any sporty driving and it can only do so much adjusting and you will notice a difference.
It makes things more interesting.
