excited to hear tech companies will now be allowed to build their own power plants for their data centers. i am sure the makers of "the app that tells kids to kill themselves" will responsibly operate coal plants

1. no you didn't, you retconning fucks
2. your decades of anti-governance "free market" "government never functions" propaganda paved the way for the complete authoritarian decimation of labor, consumer, environmental protections
Concentration camps: stories of as many as 50 people to a cell โ men and women in some cases โ with no windows and limited airflow, a single camera-monitored toilet, aluminum blankets, no showers and poor quality food.
ICE agent wearing skull mask that is usually associated with the neo Nazi atomwaffen group
Fucking surreal that people dressed like this and carrying assault rifles are permitted to kidnap people off our streets
This is the golden era to just be a normal dude because dweebs and twerps are exposing themselves at an alarming rate. We have never seen or heard from this many dweebs and twerps at any point in history before this. The dweebs and twerps are here and they're curing droughts with their tears.
Man on a local news street interview: The earth is a resort for like 500 rich people and the rest of us are just the staff.
This shit hits like a sledgehammer right now. It's not even remotely an exaggeration.
quite frankly I believe the word โnubileโ needs to be exiled from the English language. it exists simply to be used by mouth-breathing horny old men
To add to this, one of my students who uses a wheelchair simply could not get to class last week because of the unshoveled sidewalks. They tried for over an hour and had to turn around and get home because their wheels spun in the snow and they couldn't get to crosswalks. Really awful.
Well well well would you look at that

The term was coined by a 1920โs cartoonist with the meaning it still has today. I can find no evidence of a basis in antisemitism
one of my longstanding takes is that car manufacturers should be forced to install mandatory speed limiters in every new vehicle and people react to that like I'm advocating to strip them of their right to free speech
Everything about this might be the saddest thing Iโve ever seen
Itโs really cool watching people on this website cry about how anti-technology and progress the world is re: AI and hearing, from the small number of instructors I know in real life, how this stuff is just destroying traditional instruction with no effective mitigation for public education systems.

This archived Twitter thread from Feb 2020 feels especially relevant.
Women move through the world knowing that you can name a field of endeavorโany field of endeavorโand a few of the Great Men in it, & you'll find rapists. And that we are required to make some kind of peace with that knowledge.
It becomes a much more manageable turn-based game if you pause/resume constantly
I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for usโwho else is there to cheer for?
I Want You to Understand Chicago Politics Chicago 2025-11-08 I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time. Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again. An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleaguesโ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next. Understand what it is to pray in Chicago. On September 19th, Reverend David Black, lead pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, was praying outside the ICE detention center in Broadview when a DHS agent shot him in the head with pepper balls. Pepper balls are never supposed to be fired at the head because they can seriously injure, or even kill. โWe could hear them laughing as they were shooting us from the roof,โ Black recalled. He is not the only member of the clergy ICE has assaulted. Methodist pastor Hannah Kardon was violently arrested on October 17th, and Baptist pastor Michael Woolf was shot with pepper balls on November 1st. Understand what it is to sleep in Chicago. On the night of September 30th, federal agents rappelled from a Black Hawk helicopter to execute a raid on an apartment building on the South Shoโฆ
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.
In under 1600 words.

One of the huge perks of working at a software company is, when there's something about the product that bothers you personally, you can get your hands dirty and find out why it's basically impossible to get fixed
