I fit on that mentality lol, for me the hardest part is reaching out and not looking like a schizo, i'm mostly a friendly person, so i can befriend almost anybody.
Interest too play a major part, even between artists everyone has their own interests and likings
It's usually the "i wanna talk with them, but i think i'll be bothering them" mentality, especially for people with a huge following like you.
There is kinda a "power" inbalance when you're big that make smaller artist scared to interact

Animal crossing has a well established fandom, and people are really thirsty over Isabelle, it would be weird if that animation didn't get a good reception. Original works take sometime until growing their own spotlight, tho it makes me feel that it is really rewarding when it does!
