I went to @jamesbpartridge.bsky.social's Christmas show and it was brilliant - highly recommended, even if you're not the millennial target audience. www.theguardian.com/music/2026/m...
it's a fun project. You can of course get sucked in and end up spending more money on a big antenna, getting it up on the roof etc, but you can get ok coverage from a cheap ads-b antenna you can stick on a windowsill on the top foor
the easiest way is to install FR24's image: it's up and running pretty quickly. Downside is that it's headless, ie it doesn't give you a desktop environment to work in; it's all on the command line. www.flightradar24.com/build-your-own
glad it's not just me!
oh argggghhhhhh
I can't find an up to date guide on feeding from your receiver to multiple platforms but this forum thread has some useful resources radarspotting.com/forum/index....
and it's not just FR24: you can feed the data to other platforms too. It's a fun nerdy project that you can get up and running for a not especially high initial spend and over a weekend. This is what I can see right now and am feeding to FR24.
it's a shame this piece doesn't mention at all the nerds like me who build receivers (it's pretty straightforward if you're somewhat techie) and feed the data to @flightradar24.com. It's data crowdsourcing at its best; you get a free premium account in return; everyone benefits.
Oh, this is *great* from Sharon
my French is similarly depleted these days!

glad it's not just me. I'm not sure I'm going to finish it
hope so!

did you enjoy them second time around - and were you reading in Italian second time round?
What was that everyone was saying about it being spring yesterday? It's 11 degrees here and absolutely shitting it down. I've got the heating on.
I didn't think it deserved the fuss, but I enjoyed reading it
It is so bloody annoying
I'm about a third of the way through it and it's definitely dragging
I quite liked Captain Corelli! But I know what you mean
It's very uneven, isn't it? Not sure I'm going to finish it
Ugh, that's not good
So this is possibly going to be mocked as a Bad Take, but I'm reading My Brilliant Friend for the first time and honestly, I'm finding it a bit of a slog. I think it's patchy - engaging in parts, slow in others - and while I can see glimmers of why people like it, I don't get the wild praise for it.
oh ARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH. Such an incredibly poorly thought out process that is in no way actually secure. When I come to cash in the nieces' premium bonds, I'll do what I did for oldest niece: sell them out, get money to my bank account, transfer that money to nieces.
which means if I want to buy premium bonds for myself I'll have to make sure I note down the numbers for which are mine and which are theirs to make sure any winnings are sorted fairly and accurately.
I have decided not to have any premium bonds myself until theirs are eventually redeemed.
oh do not get me started: I look after two of my Italian nieces' premium bonds because Mum said in her will that the small legacies she left them should be in premium bonds and because they were kids and in Italy couldn't have their own accounts. Such a PITA, so they're registered as if they're mine
oh that FACE
FINALLY. A human has confirmed that it will take 28 days (well, that's the aim, apparently) to bestir themselves to delete it. JUST DELETE THE ACCOUNT, FFS.
yup
