More concourse maps would be amazing! Only saw that one, and think it was an overhead view of only one level.

I love that the airport route is 747.

FEEDBACK:
Our methodology is ever evolving, and there are definitely orgs we haven't covered yet. If you think something should be different, please don't hesitate to use the feedback form near the top of the page, or comment or send a DM.

BLUESKY STATS:
- 279 Bluesky accounts.
- 33 orgs added new Bluesky accounts.
- 14 orgs relocated their Bluesky accounts (mostly for custom domains).
- 28 newly-added orgs have Bluesky accounts.

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE:
- We're keeping an eye on an additional 118 orgs that didn't make the cut, or are dormant. Every year we check in on them.
- We removed 9 orgs from the public list this year.

04.03.2026 02:04 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

TRENDS NOTICED:
- LOTS of new YouTube (125) and LinkedIn (85) accounts. We weren't tracking them all before, so maybe this was just catch-up.
- 59 new TikTok accounts
- 51 more Twitter/X accounts gone dormant in the past year.

NOTES:
- We track all social accounts, even dormant ones.
- Mostly organizations. Currently working on methodology for whether to include/exclude/spin-off media or blog sites.

Getting Around: Philadelphia, PA Traveled multiple times since 2014; most recent February 2026

Philly has come a LONG way since my first visit over 10 years ago. Payment and navigation are SO MUCH easier now.

Well done, @septaphilly.bsky.social!

How to Film ICE Filming federal agents in public is legal, but avoiding a dangerousβ€”even deadlyβ€”confrontation isn’t guaranteed. Here’s how to record ICE and CBP agents as safely as possible and have an impact.

We love a good guide!

Having traveled around the US quite a bit the past few years, we've seen a lot of this in person. Pretty much every city has at least *something* that looks like a recent improvement.

Having taken the bus when visiting Providence, this is just a massive self-own on the part of Rhode Island.

Props to @pvdstreets.bsky.social for doing the good work and bringing receipts!

Getting Around: Orange County, CA November 2024, April 2025, December 2025

Welcome to the modern world, Orange County!

Buses now have tap-to-pay and fare capping. The old app was a nightmare, this is a huge improvement!

Getting Around: San Diego, CA Traveled December 2025

Getting Around: SAN DIEGO, CA

San Diego had surprisingly good transit! Good rail, good buses. The tap readers were hard to find sometimes, and a *little* more frequency would help.

I do that too! But for me it's "let's figure out the easiest way to ride."

Each city is so different. Ridden in about 30 cities in the US and I don't think any two have had the same transit situation.

You'd think I'd seen it all by now, and yet this week I was once again surprised.

04.01.2026 07:02 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Wait, people use those for homes they're living in? I always thought it was for realtors showing vacant units.

Nice! I used to like a physical card in the winter when my coat had a special pocket for it. Never been a lanyard person, but that's a great case for it.

I do a lot of city hopping. Tapping/apping makes it easier to ride without lining up for a card. Also usually have phone out for nav/countdowns.

Sometimes you can just do the nice things.

Thanks, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social!

There's an ease/preference gradient for ways to pay for transit, and it's probably gonna be different for everyone.

Mine is:

Tap > Phone Wallet > App > Transit Card > Ticket > Cash

04.01.2026 03:43 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

There's SO MANY little quirks per system.

Eugene, Buffalo, New Jersey, San Diego, Baltimore, LIRR, I'm looking at you with your unique little curveballs.

But I'm getting close to a sequence and toolset that can get you around in the general case.

I fear Journal Square may be the final boss.

04.01.2026 03:39 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

You may need to Pay and/or Validate for each boarding. So look for the opportunities.

In-App Day pass? You PAY at the first step, and just be on the lookout for opportunities to VALIDATE, in that sequence.

Depending on the system, you may or may not need to.

04.01.2026 03:30 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I think this sequence applies to like 95% of transit systems...

Keep trying to "do a payment thing," in this order, until you succeed:

In App -> Entering Station -> Inside Station -> Boarding Vehicle -> On Board Vehicle

04.01.2026 03:26 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

For example, a city may try to explain the details of its fare system. And you need to learn it for each city.

But from a user standpoint, you can progress through a somewhat standard brute-force "try to pay" sequence...

LATE WEEKEND THOUGHT:

A common approach to riding transit in a new place is to try to understand a city's system and paradigms...

But successfully riding transit might be more about a robust set of TOOLS and SKILLS.
