Nailed it Andrew.
Very interesting read. Thanks.
There is only a love heart as a reaction on BlueSky. My reaction is horror, not love.
Café table at a mechanics' yard in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. (Considering this cafe was at grease monkey central, the Google reviews that led me across the road from the bus station, very accurately summed the place up as a gem).
Poor people can't usually get the finances together to move to a wealthier country.
Interesting piece, shared by Bernard Hickey. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Travelling in Asia, I decided to err on the side of caution and assume all dogs have rabies. This cutie at the cafe spent considerable effort trying to convince me otherwise.
Yes. I had a former colleague sending me similar trash. Very sad.
The first paragraph of this story spells out the looks I get from flight attendants with my meal pre-ordered meals. Most recently the Jain vegetarian meal I ordered on Malaysia Airlines. www.stuff.co.nz/travel/30102...
Kūmara for breakfast. Or at least the Vietnamese equivalent. Heaven after $12.99kg in New World all year.
Trip Advisor has offered me a very odd advert this evening.
This is behind the paywall, but a very good piece of writing from Matthew Hooten who, let's say, comes from a different political leaning to me. He has shown himself this election to be able to rise above his own politics: www.nzherald.co.nz/business/mat...

Best headline of the day so far.
There is of course ChatGPT. 😅But I was meaning functional software for day-to-day operation.
Cartoon depicts a submarine labelled Fonterra. It is manned by two men watching farmers on land via a perscope. "How do farmers like our scope 3 plans, sir?" asks a crewman. "they look peaceful but rig for depth charges, anyway" replies CEO Hurrell.
No explosions at the policy launch, but Fonterra have come under fire from commentators who say this initiative will do little to reduce actual on-farm emissions. @farmersweeklynz #cartoon #nzfarming #nzpol
Amazes me that people like the commenter above are still ranting on about all this. They need to get over it and move on. I'm seeing lots of posts of people pushing conspiracy stuff. It's 2023 for goodness sake.
Most useful piece of software (since I discovered Otter) is Microsoft PhoneLink. After a false start last year, it's upgraded and actually works well. I can now type texts to people at 100wpm instead of very tediously on my phone. Such a time saver for my work. apps.microsoft.com/detail/phone...
Don't judge a book by its cover. This morning on public transport the tattooed man next to me was wearing a black hoodie, with hood up, black tracksuit, and black crocs. After a few minutes he pulled out a lint roller and proceeded to lint roll his trackies and hoodie very thoroughly.
This was a labour of love article for me. It wasn't worth the time it took. I knew that when I decided to write it. But was super interesting to research.

That's a bit harsh Silke. People whinge about what I've written (and sometimes praise it). So some must get past the photo. 😄
Me: "I've interviewed [person 1], [person 2], and [person 3]." Editor. "THAT'S FANTASTIC. I've got pictures of all three." Not a single question about what they had said. :)
Great work Chris @vizowl.bsky.social
Luxon's "Camilla and Diana". Thanks @FranOSullivan
John Oliver talking about Bird of the Century
Oh. My. God.
John Oliver has done a whole segment on New Zealand's Bird of the Century competition...

Uffindell for Corrections portfolio? 🤣🤣
Again, we need to elevate up and say, 'Well, what are the big rocks and the additive things that actually the other parties are bringing to our agenda? What are the things we’ve got variance in’, and discuss and work our way through.
Almost feel happy for Chris Luxon. It must have felt like a cold beer after a hard day letting a sentence like this rip after spending an entire election campaign trying to approximate the speech of a regular human
