i now have a second rack of raspberry pi boards and still not entirely sure what i want to use them for.
kiro has enabled me to make so many stupid little projects in the last couple of months, yet it seems my devs using other tools take days to work through small issues.
my librarian friend informs me that libraries take even old and outdated tech books! yay!
cleaning out some old bookshelves and i'm making a pile of old o'reilly books. got, like, 20-30 perl books, which just makes me sad because i can't remember the last time i actually used that language.
tried a factory reset on one device, and now it is dead to the network and nothing can adopt it. so i guess i have to buy a new set of APs? does anyone even make any that don't suck like this anymore?
spent the last 2 hours trying to access my old (but not that old) unifi APs, and i can't get any software that can even see them. set them up long enough ago i can't remember how and my notes are, to my shame, less than complete.
when did home network management just, like, break. it used to be you could really easily manage APs and routers with simple CLI or webUIs. but, like all things, now you've gotta have an app or a cloud.
anyone have suggestions for cool things to do or places to go in switzerland? planning a trip in april.
i don't know if the sociopathy portrayed by the characters on 'industry' is realistic or just entertaining. neither prospect is particularly pleasant to consider, but damn is this show fun.
the feeling of superiority you get when you cut in front of all those 'gold' people waiting to get in is a thrill.
a chest freezer in the basement has been a game changer and makes costco frozen food shopping worth doing for 2 people. and that freezer costs me something like $2/year to run.
my goal with every costco trip is under 20min/$200.
i rarely achieve this, but i at least try. the new early opening hours for executive members has been a welcome perk.
dammit! client isolation. of course. duh. switching to wired connection did what i needed.
(i would disable the client isolation, but i've somehow lost my software for managing my APs...)
kidding aside, i have a hard time figuring out why i'd need much faster than 10 for my local network, let alone 100. kids these days and their gigabits don't know how good they've got it.
dug out an old unmanaged switch from my pile-o-junktech and i was worried it wouldn't have great speed. thank goodness it says "Fast Ethernet".
ssh would totally be an option, but the host gets and IP from the DHCP server then stops networking. <sigh>
noodling around on a bunch of my old raspberry pis and can't find my old mini hdmi adapter, so i'm blind after reimaging things.
probably should've checked for that first.
i can't think of a helm chart i've ever seen and didn't think the same thing. especially the ones i write.
wait, what?! oh no...
a VHS copy of "License to Drive"?
ok #kiro, you just keep doing cool stuff. was working on content in one repo, and a generator in another, and it knew to look in the generator to transform content to match. creepy, but super useful.
decided to try out the builder center thing and wrote a quick article on my kiro first impressions
builder.aws.com/content/36Ps...
back on the train and woke up to a delightful sunrise. upgrading to a sleeper was a huge difference in sleep quality.

#reinvent2025 last day!
this is what a "no seats available" session on friday looks like.
#reinvent2025 is closing up tomorrow, and it was a great event. re:play was more fun than i've had since a couple of years ago, but the new builders loft and associated stuff was the highlight for me.
safe travels to all my camp buddies, and i look forward to hanging with you nerds next year!
who's heading to re:play and wants to hang out a bit?
#reinvent2025
no worries. have a great show!
yup! you have to pick it up at the normal swag station at the V. just tell them you're there for the certification swag. tshirt, tote, luggage tag, brick.
a red lego brick labeled with "AWS re:Invent 2025"
woo-hoo! got my brick for the year!
turns out it was inside the silly little tote bundled with the cert swag.
anyone know if/where those year stamped lego bricks are?
