We're proud to be part of SustInAfrica - an ambitious EU-funded research project.
SustInAfrica tackles challenges facing farmers in North & West Africa:
🌳 Land degradation
💦 Water scarcity
🌱 Plant health
SustInAfrica will produce a framework on ag practices focussed on resilience & sustainability.
As members of the Irish Consortium on Gender Based Violence (ICGBV), we play our part in these collective efforts.
We integrate training on reducing gender-based violence, including FGM, at a practical level, across our programmes.

On the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), nearly 4.4 million girls around the world are at risk. 200 million+ women & girls today have undergone FGM, in over 30 countries.
There is no health benefit. FGM is a violation of human rights & must be eliminated.

Now, we're further strengthening the SACCO sector with a smartphone app to identify gaps in skills & services + coaching plans & training modules.
Transforming lives through access to finance!

For almost 20 years, we've worked to bring financial services to rural communities in Ethiopia through our SACCO (Savings & Credit Cooperatives) programme, with:
✅ Access to banking for 150,000 households through 260+ SACCOs
💰Tens of thousands of small loans to support income-generating activities.
In 2025, let’s redouble our efforts to support small-scale farming families, who provide the key to lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty in Africa. Read more in the Irish Independent from Self Help Africa's Paul Wagstaff:
