Abolish ICE.
There’s no reforming it.
There’s no compromise.
There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

It’s fascinating how immigrants are somehow both lazy and collect welfare, and also stealing our jobs. Behold, Schrödinger's immigrant!

Fossilized conch.
Dislodged a rock in the front yard, found this fossilized conch. No wonder they call this area Mt Helix.

I have a piece out today on @nextcity.org. To start 2026, my latest report is a story on @panasd.org & how they have been developing a community land trust. Leading an effort to build community-owned affordable housing & in San Diego, CA for immigrant & refugee families.

A safe apartment after fleeing violence. A bus pass to get to work. A funeral for a loved one. A phone to stay connected. For 10 years, PANA’s mutual aid has turned community care into collective resilience.
Flock left 60 Condor AI-people tracking cameras open to the internet. @404mediaco reports cameras can zoom in close enough to read your cell phone screen. San Diego has not said it has these cameras, but it shows (again) Flock as sloppy and creepy.

Former ICE and CBP leaders who have now left the agency told the FT that previous safeguards are gone, with ICE pursuing aggressive quotas by using data from Social Security, the IRS, and commercial surveillance and license plate reader companies.

We are inspired, furious, and we will not stop. We showed up in record numbers. 180 in person, more online. Hundreds wrote in too. The overwhelming majority opposed approving SD's ALPR program. Our coalition stood stronger than ever with more than 70 community and labor organizations standing side by side. Even still, we are furious that the City Council majority voted to approve the ALPR use policy and 53 other surveillance technologies, continuing the use of Flock.
We thank CMs Elo-Rivera, Foster, and Moreno for opposing. We saw them dig into the police department's and Flock's policies and practices, validating community concerns and clarifying problems Flock kept dismissing as "hypotheticals." All the calls and conversations before the vote made a difference. We saw some Councilmembers take this more seriously than they had before, with CM Lee saying he wants to have a call for vendors this year. Let's take a breath, reflect, and plan for the fight ahead.
In February, the City's 2026 Annual Surveillance Report process begins. Funding surveillance will come up in the budget process. And we can find ways to resist surveillance all day every day. We are inspired, furious, and we will not stop. Read our statement on yesterday's San Diego City Council vote on ALPR.
ICE trying to ORDER a church to REMOVE A NATIVITY SCENE is one of the most astonishing First Amendment violations I've seen in ever
For 2 weeks this year, unauthorized outside agencies searched SD's Flock license plate data. Flock messed up the settings. SDPD first hid the breach, then admitted it months later but still redacts the reasons for the 12,914 unauthorized searches.

Leaders and community spoke truth at our press conference this week.
"The SD police officer that led this initiative, that led bringing this technology to the city of SD, is now an employee of Flock. There is something extremely wrong with how this was done."
Councilmember Henry Foster
Are people wondering why Flock is so terrible and out of control as a company? Here's a one pager you can share around too: docs.google.com/document/d/e...
