Iβve always clenched at unscheduled phone calls (and scheduled ones if Iβm being real) but robo calls gave me a great out. People who know me will text me, others can leave a message
No, but running for office should
Unironically, yes
This was basically the plot of the Battlestar Galactica spinoff prequel Caprica. Didnβt turn out well there either
My wife and I are both born in the 70s and my son is 16. Our Spotify ages were 17 and 18 for my wife and I and our sonβs was 78. Pretty sure itβs a random number generator
Humans: expand all over the planet and double our life spans due to science and technology.
Also humans: but what if not science and technology.
Weβre a strange bunch

Newsletter: This is The Case Against Generative AI, a comprehensive analysis of a financial collapse built on myths Iβll dispel, the marketsβ unhealthy obsession with NVIDIA's growth, and the fact that there is not enough money in the world to fund OpenAI.

This is not the AI boom creating a new type of work, this is a classic example of managers using automation to deskill old ones. Creative workers who once made a higher wage creating original art and writing are now paid in piecework to edit automated output. Bosses are using AI to cut labor costs.

Happy SkyNet day to all who celebrate
As long as itβs chatbots and bad art and not some kind of cyborg Warren Buffet, I think itβs safe to say any AGI claims are overblown at best and carnival barker-level scam at worst.
What I wouldnβt do is sell cheat codes to high-school students and desk jockeys.
An AGI that lives up to the hype that has already been put out there by wannabe sci-fi writer CEOs should have no problem finding all the secret patterns of the markets and be able to consolidate some pretty serious wealth. Should be at least enough to pay for the compute
If I had created some kind of machine god, especially one that cost brain-breaking amounts of money to build and run, the first thing I would do with it would be to give it a couple billion dollars of hedge fund seed money and have it go to town on every market it could.
In the coming months and years, weβre going to hear a lot of claims about #Ai companies or systems having achieved #AGI. Hereβs how I will know it hasnβt really happened. I call it the βif youβre so smart, how come you ainβt richβ theory. π§΅
