Renowned artist Paul Hau (Hou Beiren) passed away at 108. We share his 2016 watercolor 'Apricot Spring Blossoms,' painted at his Los Altos home. A cultural bridge-builder, his legacy includes DeYoung exhibits and founding ASACA. We honor his memory.

New paving stones were added to the Apothecary Herb Garden paths.
Bare spots will soon fill with low-growing plants. Walkways protect soil from compaction, helping roots grow and plants thrive.
They also make caring for the garden easier. Small upgrades like this keep the garden healthy!

This year, nature tested our Civic Center Apricot Orchard with chill shortages, spring rain, and soil disease. 92 trees must be removed—our biggest loss in 124 years. Read how we plan to restore the orchard in our latest blog post. www.losaltoshistory.org/2025/05/when...
Today, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Pictured here is the Cradle of Liberty memorial in Shoup Park, dedicated on July 4, 1998. Sculpted by Los Altos artist Rebecca Truman, it shows a soldier cradling a baby, symbolizing both sacrifice and hope.
For our #ThenandNow series, we visit the San Antonio Club, established in 1907. Built by community members, the club offered a place for neighbors to connect, socialize, and enjoy recreational activities. The historical photo was taken in 1971.
