I go through so many feelings in this game, one minute I’m crying over the tiniest cute moment, the other I’m PISSED that I can’t find any fire boys to make me some glass and then I find charmander taking a sweet nap on a GRAVESTONE. Child when they say rest in piece its NOT LIKE THIS!!!

Anyway I’m done nerding out I could go on for so long here but at the risk of sounding pathetic and a little crazy if you read all of this hi. I’m normal I’m just rly passionate abt pokemon video game.

Yknow the story abt the kid who read the pokedex for Lapras say it was near extinction so he bred a lot of Lapras eggs and released them thinking it would save them? I love stuff like that, its kinda the same here for me (tho I know its not a thing, it just Feels Nice to wonder yk)

It feels very irrational to say this ofc because its like. Ok its a game its not real these beings are not attached to you its all coding, when you die nothing happens blah blah blah, but this is like a sense of growing out of it after feeling accomplished without treating it like just a game idk

I’m not done yet w the story cause there’s still some stuff I need to do and I’m sure theres not much left but I have it in my heart that eventually when I stop playing I’ll have put enough work into everything that the Pokemon living there can manage on their own when I’m gone if this makes sense

It feels sad and hits home bc it deals with a lot of sad feelings when you read certain parts, sometimes its funny and quirky, and sometimes it warms the heart, its all about bonds in a world that starts out so lonely, there’s so many metaphors I can talk about in this.
Its made with love I feel.

And finally I’m really enjoying the storytelling in this game. Finding the clues to what happened, where we are, what our purpose is, and the idea that we as a Pokemon society are learning to build the world back into something lovely… it feels like such an optimistic view when the world is so ass.

Which makes even some Pokemon I don’t particularly care about feel so extra cute to me when I’m chatting with them in there, they go from whatever creature design stuff to a fun neighboor I love bumping into on the street even if we don’t talk much!
I feel bad waking them up to ask for materials!!!

Following the story and getting the Pokemon to be happier feels so nice. I almost wanna make the towns nicer for them and not for my aesthetic needs etc… its like putting my labor of love into it to repay them for the comfort they gave me all my life or something like that. I love them so much.

The farming centric games I feel end up being a bit too focused on romance at times, which is not bad at all!!! Just not something I’m looking for lately. And too much farming and not much building most of the time. Again this is from the stuff I tried! Personal experiences etc.
With Pokopia tho…

Secondly, the Pokemon have a bit more personality and feel more familiar than modern Animal Crossing characters for example. And a lot of the cozy games genre I tried have something lacking to me, the building games would lack character personality and a purpose to guide me to do things, and…

I feel like there’s a couple reasons why Pokopia tickles my brain good, and for the sake of being a nerd while I wait for lunch I will now talk about it.
First is my very obvious Pokemon autism, we’re talking my fav franchise here and I legit need to flap my gay lil hands when things get too cute.

I am torn between leaving the pole system as a cultural landmark of my hubris forever or updating to wireless energy when I finish setting up the other towns, I guess we’ll see, won’t we!!!

Needless to say, my ultra pole tower I so carefully made became obsolete as soon as it was done bc I did it also to power up the habitat I set up for Porygon to show up

Porygon. Who gave me the recipe for the wireless stuff immediately.
And now I look at my pole system with a profound sadness……….

When I saw about the person who put the utility poles underground in Pokopia to have power through the entire area without cables I was not prepared to learn about the wireless power transmitter right after I spent like 2 hours making a system of poles to energize the entire Skylands building…

YEAH this is truly like a dream come true for the “I wouldnt be a trainer I just wanna build a life and live w these creatures” crew, its a type of game the franchise needed that I’m surprised was done so well, I haven’t been this heavily involved w the pokemon around me since PMD…

Love that Pokopia lets me blast the Galar gym battle theme in my house, or the music from Area Zero, some of my favs when it comes to soundtrack in recent pokemon games…

Ok today I have a set goal to follow before I can even touch Pokopia again. I must use this energy I gathered all weekend to work HARD

And then go work on my renovation goals cause I am planning a lovely new residential lot for my pokemon friends and some roadwork to make paths nicer etc :)
