The Israeli regime is fascist and genocidal. The population supports the regime's actions at more than 80% in most polls. You don't have to argue with people online when these are facts.

NEW: One of the most active hubs for sexually explicit AI "deepfakes" is hiding in plain sight. My latest takes a hard look at a 4chan board that's acting as a factory floor for online sexual abuse — where its users have victimized untold numbers of women and girls.

I’m gonna be pedantic here, I did not say “sentences around a certain section don’t matter”, and it is not cherry picking to say that a specific context doesn’t matter to a statement, cherry picking means something entirely different.
Not only Tehran, this sickening template is also and especially being enacted in Lebanon
"'This is the first time since the war began that I am genuinely scared...We are trapped between the regime that is killing us with machine guns, and a foreign power has likely decided that we are collateral damage.'...'If they don’t stop now, Tehran will turn into Gaza,'"
Wasteland-ification, Gaza as template. Seems to have been on point. Horrifying.
this joke works better if you know the context of goose’s post
you need to understand that most doctors who are masking hesitant aren’t bad doctors, they just have good faith questions and there’s a lot of misinformation out there
maybe the best way to combat misinformation and conspiracy beliefs might just be making the social cost too high to spread them with shame, huh?
this was brought to you by me reading two meta analyses and damn there is just not a lot of effective tools these people have actually found to combat conspiracy beliefs and misinformation
I mean, you can also just draw a direct line from the war on terror to here, dubya walked so trump could run if you will
when what you would actually need to test would involve a group of people shaming one person and seeing how that effects another person, or overall group beliefs
there’s also a methodological problem with studies on these things in that it mostly lools at how effective it is to shame or ridicule an individual so that they change their beliefs
Parents who are the bad guy here love to say things like "Oh sure I'm the bad guy here" when they're in fact the bad guy here
two women now face 5 years in prison thanks to an LA jury. one woman was found not guilty. this has gotten very little publicity despite LA kicking off the uprising against ICE.

I don’t really think it matters that it was a preface to that, because the people objecting are clearly upset about this specific value statement, and it doesn’t read like intentional language to me either
(I’m also not aware of any studies showing an ideological split between anti-vax and hesitant)
just because doctors should not use shame on specific parents doesn’t mean shame on a societal level isn’t an effective strategy
I think a lot of the people who are against shaming are healthcare professionals who feel like it might push people away from healthcare providers -which is probably true- but they make the crucial mistake of thinking healthcare professionals are the only people who need to think about strategies
Wearing a mask was made into a symbol of being neurotic and kind of annoying, and THAT'S what sunk the final nail in the coffin of widespread takeup.
Shaming people for not vaccinating their kids is in fact the one thing that WILL move the needle; it isn't an education issue, it is a social one.
I don't want to pick a fight about it but I saw someone claiming that shaming doesn't work where vaccines are concerned and then try and turn around and say "How many of you are wearing masks?"
And that's the thing: People stopped wearing masks because they were shamed OUT of it.

it’s functionally like saying “in my experience most maga voters aren’t bad people, there’s just a lot of misinformation out there”
maybe you can’t convince maga people by telling them they are assholes, that does not mean you need to pretend they aren’t assholes
I did not misread anything, I am saying that he made an ought statement while your post claims that he didn’t
this is simply irrelevant to your previous claim.
